  • Patent number: 6626257
Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically setting the speed in a vehicle, with the distance and relative speed between the vehicle and an obstacle determined and used as the basis for the calculation of a braking torque and drive torque which are to be generated independently of the driver in order to approximate the vehicle actual speed to a calculated setpoint speed. The speed of the vehicle is adapted to the speed of the obstacle, in which respect a maximum permissible limiting speed must not be exceeded.

  • Patent number: 6449572
Abstract: In a method for classifying the driving style of a driver in a motor vehicle, measured variables indicative of driving style are recorded and driving-style classification figures are determined by a comparison with reference values, parameter settings corresponding to the driving-style classification figures being carried out to adapt the functioning of a regulation and control unit. In order to improve the handling of a motor vehicle with the aid of a driver classification, it is provided that presettings for the driving-style classification figures are stored in the regulation and control unit of the motor vehicle, it being possible to prescribe driving-style classification figures for a plurality of different driver reaction stages, and that the current driver is classified in a prescribed driver reaction stage in the motor vehicle by measuring classifying indicators, and driving-style classification figures corresponding to the driver reaction stage are activated in the regulation and control unit.

  • Patent number: 6226593
Abstract: In a method for braking a motor vehicle at low speeds in order to avoid a collision with an obstacle in its immediate vicinity, the distance and the relative speed between the vehicle and the obstacle are determined by sensor and are based on the calculation of a necessary braking pressure or a deceleration. The brake pressure is generated at least partially independently of the driver. In order to minimize the reaction time in the case of slow approach to an obstacle in the case where the relative speed falls below a threshold value and the distance falls below a proximity limit, the braking torque is set to a smaller value than the engine torque. In the case where the distance falls below a stop limit, which is smaller than the proximity limit, the braking torque and the engine torque are adjusted in such a way that the braking torque exceeds the engine torque.

  • Patent number: 6179389
Abstract: A system generates a brake pressure with a pump which delivers a volume into the chamber of a master brake cylinder and builds up a pressure which is used by at least one additional assembly, particularly a power-assisted steering system. The system has at least one distributing and throttling element for admitting a definable pressure to the chamber of the master brake cylinder and/or the additional assembly. The one or more distributing and throttling elements can be triggered, as a function of the brake pedal position and/or of driving condition values and/or of operating values of the vehicle, such that the chamber and/or the additional unit can be acted upon by a pump generated adjustable pressure.

  • Patent number: 6062528
Abstract: A plate-shaped holder for holding a first component on a supporting part, including a base plate, devices arranged on the base plate for fastening the holder on the first component, and devices arranged on the base plate for mounting the holder on the supporting part. The devices for fastening the holder on the first component contain a fastening bolt guide which projects from a first side of the base plate. A fastening bolt is fitted through the fastening bolt guide from the other, second base plate side, as a single fastening element between the holder and the first component. The free front end of the fastening bolt guide forms a first support point for the first component. Several supporting pins project from the first base plate side which form, by means of their free front ends, additional support points for the first component and of which two form a tilt-stabilizing triangle together with the first support point.

  • Patent number: 5813230
Abstract: A brake system is provided in which, in the normal operation, the brake pressure in the wheel brake cylinders is generated in a power-assisted manner and the master brake lines are closed by change-over valves. During a functional disturbance, the brake pressure in the wheel brake cylinders is built up by way of a master brake cylinder, such that, when the brake pressure control device operates normally also when the switching valves are closed the brake pedal can carry out a pedal travel and, on the other hand, when there are functional disturbances of the brake pressure control device, at most with a slight idling path of the brake pedal, by the operation of the brake pedal in the master brake cylinder and the wheel brake cylinders, a brake pressure can be generated in a conventional manner.

  • Patent number: 5207485
Abstract: In a drive-slip control device (ASR) and anti-lock system (ABS) in a road vehicle with a hydraulic multi-circuit brake system, the return-flow pump assigned to the brake circuit of the driven vehicle wheels is used as an auxiliary pressure source for the ASR. The discharge of a pressure accumulator connected to the return line of the brake circuit of the driven vehicle wheels, after the conclusion of a drive-slip control phase, is achieved when the return-flow pump continues to be maintained in the conveying mode for a delay time commencing with the disappearance of the situation requiring control. The ASR control valve provided for shutting off the brake unit from the main brake line of the brake circuit of the driven vehicle wheels is maintained in its closing position assigned to the ASR mode. A pressure relief valve is connected in parallel with the ASR control valve. For the variable presetting of the delay time, a buffer accumulator is equipped with a pressure monitor.

  • Patent number: 5066076
Abstract: In the case of an apparatus for the fixing of the hydraulic unit of an ABS and/or an ASR in the motor space of a street vehicle, the hydraulic unit is axially supported between one forward and two rearward rubber buffers which are arranged on a console which, in turn, is fixed on the vehicle body. In order to achieve, during an impact of the vehicle on an obstacle, a detaching of the anchoring of the hydraulic unit from the console or the body of the vehicle, at least one holding element of the forward rubber buffer is implemented with a defined low holding force which, starting from a minimum deceleration of the vehicle, results in a deflection of the holding element and thus in a release of the hydraulic unit. This holding element may be constructed to be pivotable or bendable. In a special development, a rivet which, in the case of a crash, acts as a desired breaking point, is provided for the fixing of the console on the vehicle body.

  • Patent number: 4815792
Abstract: In an anti-blocking system for a road vehicle with statically pressure-actuatable brake circuits, a pressure modulator with an outlet pressure connected with the wheel brake cylinder is coordinated to each wheel brake, whereby pressure reduction-, pressure build-up and pressure-maintaining-phases of the anti-blocking regulation are attainable by its controllable volume change respectively maintaining constant of its volume. The pressure modulators are constructed as stepped cylinders with bore steps of different diameters passing over one into the other, in which a smaller and a larger control pressure space is movably delimited by piston steps of corresponding different diameters of a stepped piston, as well as the outlet pressure space, which is formed by an annular space remaining between the piston steps. The larger control pressure space is permanently connected with the main brake line of the respective brake circuit.
