  • Patent number: 6332417
Abstract: A sewing machine needle includes a central longitudinal axis; a blade extending at least partially coaxially with the axis and terminating in a point; and an eye passing though the blade transversely to the axis and having an opening direction. The eye has opposite openings on opposite sides of the blade. Two mutually spaced walls forming part of the blade have respective inner faces bounding the eye. An indentation is provided in the blade in a region of at least one of the eye openings. The indentation reduces the height of at least one part of the eye walls as measured from the axis.

  • Patent number: 6318280
Abstract: A sewing machine needle includes a substantially linear blade having a longitudinal axis and terminating in a needle point and an eye provided in the blade. The eye is bordered by two eye webs which are spaced from one another parallel to the axis and which are offset relative to one another transversely to the axis.

  • Patent number: 5666896
Abstract: A needle includes a shank and a blade adjoining the shank. The blade has a conical length portion tapering in a direction away from the shank, a cylindrical length portion adjoining the conical length portion and a pointed tapering end portion adjoining the cylindrical length portion. The conical length portion is situated between the shank and the cylindrical length portion. An eye and a longitudinally extending groove are provided in the blade. Further, a circumferential, rounded constriction is provided in the blade adjacent the shank. The constriction which forms a predetermined breaking location, adjoins the conical length portion and is located between the shank and the conical length portion.

  • Patent number: 4790254
Abstract: A bearded needle for bookbinding machines, embroidery machines and other similar machines comprising a needle shank having a neck portion, a beard, and a needle head supporting the beard. The needle head is connected to the neck portion and has an essentially conical needle tip. The beard and the shank are connected to the needle head to form a needle eye having a rounded fillet at the side of the eye facing the needle tip. The needle tip has a portion in a region of the fillet which has an upright essentially rectangular configuration with rounded edges and two narrow sides each having a center with the longitudinal plane of symmetry intersecting the centers of the narrow sides. The needle head at least in a region of the needle eye has a first laterally smooth taper thereby forming a thread travel area on each side of the longitudinal plane of symmetry.
