Abstract: A liquid for a level or a feeler element for the electrical measurement of inclinations and for the determination of the vertical by measuring an electrical current or impedance between surface electrodes, which current or impedance changes as a function of tilting, the electrodes being in contact with the liquid which is contained in a container and each electrode is connected with an electrode terminal which can be contacted from the outside. The liquid contains a major proportion, i.e. at least about 50 percent by weight of hydrazine monohydrate and an effective amount of at least one compatible conducting salt dissolved in said liquid.
