Abstract: One aspect of the invention relates to a device for control of hemorrhage from major blood vessels in acute trauma. The device can be a self sizing expandable/collapsible device placed percutaneously across the site of injury and fitted with intravascular imaging to allow visualization of positioning without the need for x-ray equipment or an operating room. The expandable/collapsible device can be tapered to accommodate a large variance in vessel size and can be textured with treads to prevent movement in high flow vessels. The expandable/collapsible device can be placed at the patient's bedside, provides for vascular control during definitive repair, and can be removed after said repair.
