Patent number: 6808134Abstract: A fuel injector, particularly a fuel injector for fuel injection systems in internal combustion engines, has a valve needle, which cooperates with a valve-seat surface to form a sealing seat, and an armature, which engages with the valve needle, the armature being movable along the axis of the valve needle and being damped by a damping element made from an elastomer. In this context, a first intermediate ring is situated between the armature and the damping element. The damping element rests on the flange, which is connected in a force-locking manner to the valve needle. The intermediate ring and/or the flange is furnished with radial and/or axial channels which connect an interior volume located between the valve needle and the damping element to a central cutaway of the fuel injector.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 2002Date of Patent: October 26, 2004Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Klaus Noller, Uwe Liskow, Martin Buehner, Guido Pilgram, Juergen Maier, Hartmut Albrodt

Patent number: 5862991Abstract: When an internal combustion engine is hot, especially in hot starting or during hot idling, outgassing of fuel occurs upstream of the injection port disk and at the injection ports; as a result, because too little fuel is supplied, the running performance is undesirably impaired. The running performance of the engine is therefore intended to be improved by preventing the development of vapor bubbles. By the provision of a transfer element, in the form of a raised body shoulder formed on the valve seat body, that reduces the heat transfer between the valve seat body and the injection port disk, it is accomplished that the injection port disk cools down as a result of the extracted heat of evaporation of the injected fuel, and thus the danger of vapor bubble development at the injection ports or upstream is reduced. The fuel injection valve is especially suitable for fuel injection systems in mixture-compressing internal combustion engines with externally supplied ignition.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 1996Date of Patent: January 26, 1999Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Clemens Willke, Klaus Franzke, Hartmut Albrodt, Norbert Belzner
