  • Patent number: 5205074
Abstract: A counterbalanced window operator includes a rotatable drive member operatively connected to the pivoting end of the window by means of an arm member (29). A spring (40) occupying a fixed orientation is operatively connected to the arm member (29) to counterbalance the torque transmitted from the window to the arm member (29). In a preferred embodiment, double scissors arm members (250a and 250b) include a pair of first arm members (251a and 251b) that define a first plane and a pair of second arm members (252a and 252b) that define a second plane at an oblique angle relative to the first plane when the window is in an open position.

  • Patent number: 5097629
Abstract: A counterbalanced operator for a pivoting unit includes a housing 17 and a rotatable drive member mounted in the housing. A first end 29a of arm member 29 is operatively connected to the drive member. A second end of the arm member is operatively connected to the pivoting end of the unit and a torque from the unit is transmitted to the arm member. A crank 33 rotates the drive member. A spring 40 provides for a means for counterbalancing the torque on the arm member. The spring 40 creates a force, the spring operatively connected to the arm member and the spring positioned in the housing. The force is transmitted from the spring to the arm member.

  • Patent number: 4976066
Abstract: An improved apparatus and method of sliding window construction are disclosed. When moving in an open position, a sash member is guided for movement in a first plane generally parallel to the window frame opening. When moving toward closure, the sash is guided by rotatable glide members that simultaneously transversely move all four corners of the sash into closure under cam action of the glides, to uniformly compress a weatherstrip seal around the entire perimeter of the sash. The transverse movement between open and closed positions can be performed in a manner such that the general plane of the sash remains parallel to the first plane throughout the transverse movement phase. Means are provided for retainably maintaining the sash at discrete positions along the transverse path of the sash during closure.

  • Patent number: 4637403
Abstract: Hand-held shirt-pocket portable medical diagnostic system for checking measurement of blood glucose, urea nitrogen, hemoglobin, blood components or other body qualities. The system includes the engagement of a disposable needle or lance probe package which carries a chemical reagent strip such as blood reacting chemistry. The system includes a pen structure having a visual readout, a microcomputer, and photosensing circuitry which measures the change of color of the blood reacting chemistry of the disposable probe package. The pen also includes a spring arrangement for actuating a needle or lance into the skin for transferring blood from a finger or other area to the chemical reagent strip. A disposable probe structure package includes configurations for transferring of the blood to the reagent strip or the reagent strip to the blood. The pen can also create a vacuum about a time period that the needle is penetrating the skin.
