  • Patent number: 5341910
Abstract: On the conveyor track (1) on which the objects (2a, 2b) to be turned are moved at an equal distance apart by slides (3a, 3b), there is provided along a turning zone an advancement mechanism having an advancement member in the form of a spring bar (5), which is periodically moved, at an accelerated speed relative to the speed of conveyance, forward out of an initial position into an end position and back again into the initial position. The spring bar (5) disposed over the conveyor track (1) has a bent section (5b) which reaches down to the conveyor track and the concave side of which points in the direction of conveyance. Between the two aforementioned positions of the spring bar (5), there are fastened on the conveyor track (1) two stops (6) which are aligned in the transverse direction and the height of which is less than the height of the object and the side of which pointing oppositely to the direction of conveyance exhibits in its upper region an inclined face (6a).

  • Patent number: 5143197
Abstract: A thrusting mechanism with a thrusting member (5) which is moved periodically with an acceleration relative to the conveying speed out of a starting position into an end position and back into the starting position by a drive arrangement is provided on the conveying track (1) along a turning zone. Installed downstream of the starting position are an upward-curved ramp (8) and, at a distance downstream of the latter, a further upward-curved guide track (9) for the objects (2a, 2b, 2c) arriving on the conveying track (1) and moved by pushers (3). The whole arrangement is such that an object can be taken over in the turning zone by the thrusting member (5) and pushed upwards with an acceleration on the ramp (8) and the guide track (9) until it tilts backwards beyond its upright position and, after the return motion of the thrusting member (5) out of its end position, falls back turned onto the conveying track (1).

  • Patent number: 5116040
Abstract: The sheet-feeder (B), designed as a buffer store, has a magazine (24) for receiving vertically stacked sheets and having a base (26), which leaves free an edge strip (R) of the sheet stack (S). Along this edge strip there moves an endless belt (18), articulated on which are separating elements (1), provided with a curved suction surface, followed by a plurality of spacers (11). The edge strip of the lowermost sheet is bent away downward from the remaining stack as it is sucked against the curved suction surface, and has the following spacers engage over it, on which the remaining stack is supported. After passing of a separating element by the edge strip, this edge strip bears against the undersides of the spacers, bent away completely from the remaining stack.

  • Patent number: 4598642
Abstract: The plate cylinder is provided with at least one groove opening out at the cylinder periphery, and disposed therein a fastening device for the two plate ends extending into the groove. This fastening device consists of a tightening bar which can be tilted about an axis parallel to the cylinder axis by means of hydraulically actuatable pistons provided in one groove boundary wall, a clamping piece, and a tightening support. The two plate ends are introduced on both sides of the clamping piece and, when the tightening bar is tilted by the action of the piston, are wedged tight between tightening bar and clamping piece or clamping piece and groove boundary wall, simultaneously tightening the printing plate. The tightening support can be forced radially outwards for the purpose of wedging the tightening bar in its position tightening the plates. The fastening device requires a groove of only small width which moreover tapers radially outwards, forming only a narrow circumferential gap.

  • Patent number: 4584942
Abstract: The cylinder is provided with a radial insertion slot forming in its inner portion a widened cavity. One of the walls of the slot is provided with a receiving groove of which the median plane forms with the wall of the slot an acute angle of the order of 30.degree.. The folded end reinforced by a spring-steel blade of the blanket is inserted into the slot and thrusted by using a thin piece of sheet-metal or a spatula until, due to the return force of the blanket, it engages the opening of the groove. Then, the blanket is pulled outwards so that the reinforced end penetrates into the groove. Subsequently, the second end of the blanket is attached in the known fashion to a stretching pivot. The length, in the peripheral direction, of the bottom of the widened cavity is greater than the width of the folded end of the blanket, and the width of the outer portion of the radial slot is smaller than the width of the folded end.

  • Patent number: 4122774
Abstract: A blanket clamping and tensioning apparatus for use in a blanket cylinder in a rotary printing press is disclosed. An axial groove at the periphery of the blanket cylinder carries a pair of spaced inserts which define an interior chamber. A radially movable clamping bar assembly is carried within the chamber and contacts camming surfaces on the inserts. The ends of the blanket are inserted in the space between the inserts and the clamping bar assembly is moved radially inwardly thereby camming clamping means toward each other to grip the blanket. Four embodiments are disclosed in which there are shown different gripping portions of the clamping bar assemblies.
