Abstract: An apparatus for the withdrawal of flat carton blanks made of paperboard, boxboard or corrugated board from a stack located in back of a retaining mechanism, which comprises conveyor belts and belt guides disposed beneath the stack of blanks for the controlled withdrawal of the lowermost blank and, directly adjacent to such takeoff conveyor and driven in synchronism therewith, a conveyor for the onward transportation of the individually withdrawn blanks. The belts of the takeoff conveyor under the stack are carried downwardly at an acute angle relative to the belt guides starting in the vicinity of retaining mechanism and there is disposed below said conveyor belts, in the vicinity of said retaining mechanism an eccentrically mounted roll whose eccentric shaft is driven by a drive controlled in synchronism with the drive of the takeoff conveyor.

Abstract: The invention relates to transport apparatus for transport containers in the area where blanks are loaded into a transport container of a carton filling machine. A plurality of first free-wheeling transport rollers are provided in the loading area and a plurality of rollers outside the loading area which are driven by a drive belt. The drive belt is raised to pass over a first diverting roller at the beginning of the loading area then returned at the end of the loading area by passing over a second diverting roller. A second free-wheeling transport roller is provided which is movable into and out of engagement with the drive belt.

Abstract: The invention relates to a lowering and pivoting rail mechanism for a carton filling machine for guiding and loading blanks into transport containers, in which the lowering rail can be lowered more or less vertically to the vicinity of the floor of the transport container or to a previously loaded layer of blanks and in which the pivoting rail can be moved into a position above the layer of blanks to be loaded.

Abstract: A backup station in a carton filling machine for the delivery and packaging of premanufactured blanks into transport containers. The station is arranged between an imbrication station and a delivery belt which includes a rotation station. Within the backup station, a support rail is arranged in the direction of delivery of the blanks which provides support for the blanks. Two conveyor belts running along the support rail are raised above the surface of the support rail during normal operation and are lowered by the backed-up blanks during backed-up operation.

Abstract: Switch apparatus for the positioning drive of a lowering and pivoting rail for the guiding of blanks into transport containers in a carton filling machine. With the pivoting rail and the aid of a belt running along the pivoting rail, previously imbricated delivered blanks are delivered to loading position in the transport container such as a carton. The lowering rail serves as a counter support so that the pivoting rail and lowering rail cooperate at the loading point of the blanks to guide and control the loading of the blanks as far as possible into their final position in the transport container.

Abstract: A method for filling a shipping carton with flat-folded boxes supplied in substantially horizontal shingled array from a processing machine, comprising positioning an empty carton in displaceable manner on a support below the supply from said processing machine, supporting said boxes in shingled array while advancing them along a curved path to substantially vertical shingled array, discharging said vertically shingled boxes successively into said carton, and supporting said discharged boxes on one flat surface thereof within said carton, whereby the force of said boxes as discharged causes said carton to be displaced on its support. The apparatus includes a pair of cooperating curved conveyors extending from said manufacturing machine conveyor to said carton, whereby said boxes are transferred from horizontal shingled array to vertical shingled array and are successively discharged into said carton in vertical disposition.
