  • Patent number: 8216408
Abstract: The invention concerns an ultrasonic sonotrode having a sealing surface which is intended to come into contact with the material to be processed. To provide an ultrasonic sonotrode, an ultrasonic sealing apparatus and a method of ultrasonic processing, which avoids complicated and expensive positioning of the sonotrode and which nonetheless ensures uniform good quality for the weld seam, it is proposed according to the invention that the sealing surface is of a two-part configuration and the two sealing surface parts are formed by two mutually facing sealing surface portions.

Assignee: Herrmann Ultraschalltechnik GmbH & Co. KG
Inventors: Ulrich Vogler, Hartmut Möglich, Thomas Wipfler
  • Publication number: 20110120622
Abstract: Apparatus for welding a workpiece includes an ultrasonic welding device, and a thermal welding device, wherein the ultrasonic welding device and the thermal welding device are moveable towards one another so as to act on opposite sides of the workpiece. While the thermal welding device heats the workpiece to a suitable temperature, the ultrasonic welding device executes the welding operation. Heating and welding may hereby be carried out simultaneously or successively.

  • Publication number: 20100326586
Abstract: A device for torsional ultrasonic welding for joining two parts (4, 5) includes control means (7) for setting method parameters for the ultrasonic welding process, with the aid of which a sonotrode (2) can be activated in such a way that, after completion of the ultrasonic welding process, a first part (4), consisting at least partially of a film of plastic, is joined to a second part (5) detachably to allow it to be torn away.

  • Publication number: 20100307660
Abstract: A device for the ultrasonic welding of two films of plastic includes a sonotrode (2), which can be induced to undergo torsional ultrasonic vibrations by means of exciters (23, 24). The sonotrode (2) has a slit (4), in which an engaging element (5) of an anvil (3) is inserted, so that a welding gap for the two films of plastic (11, 12) is formed. To achieve a welded joint, the films are guided through the welding gap.

  • Patent number: 6811631
Abstract: A device (10) for welding thin-walled work pieces (52) such as e.g. food containers of foil, fibrous web or foil-fibrous web composites using ultrasound has at least two components, i.e. a sonotrode (12) and a counter tool (14) for the sonotrode (12). One component (12) has a working region (16) which faces a working region (18) of the other component (14). The working region (18) of one component (14) comprises at least one projection (41) and the working region (16) of the other component (12) comprises at least one recess (46) into which the projection (41) can engage during the welding process. In this manner the work piece is securely held without slippage.
