  • Patent number: 6763877
Abstract: A method and device for the controlled tempering of a casting trough integrated between a supply vessel for a molten metal (e.g., copper or a copper alloy), and at least one continuous casting mold. The trough walls and the trough floor of the casting trough are at least partially provided with a lining layer having a specific electrical resistance between 10−1 &OHgr;·m to 10−6 &OHgr;·m and being resistant to the heat of the molten metal. The lining layer is inductively heated by an electrical heating device arranged around the lining layer.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 3, 2001
Date of Patent: July 20, 2004
    Assignee: KM Europa Metal AG
Inventors: Andreas Krause, Dirk Rode, Uwe Quadfasel, Hartmut Olemann, Ralph Frankenberg, Hubertus BrĂ¼ning
