  • Patent number: 7735228
Abstract: An insulation stripping tool for flat cables includes a clamping device adapted to be clamped to a flat cable and to provide a linear guide edge for guiding a knife holder to accurately sever the outer insulation sheath of the cable in a transverse direction. Upon removal of the clamping device from the cable, the knife holder is inserted into a chamber contained in the clamping device with the knife edge protruding from the chamber, whereupon a curved side of the flat cable is inserted within first guide grooves contained in the clamping device, and the clamping device is displaced circumferentially of the cable to sever the curved cable side transversely of the cable. The curved cable side is then inserted into a second pair of grooves contained in the clamping device, and the knife holder is displaced longitudinally to sever the insulation sheath longitudinally of the cable.

  • Patent number: 7503119
Abstract: A compact insulation stripping tool includes a U-shaped tool body to which are pivotally connected a pair of clamping jaws that pivot about parallel spaced pivot axes, thereby to clamp an insulated conductor within clamping recesses contained in the extremities of the leg portions of the tool body. A knife is supported between the leg portions by a knife support member arranged in an opening contained in the transverse base portion of the tool body. The knife has a linear cutting edge, and the knife support member is rotatable between first and second positions in which the knife edge extends alternatively transversely and longitudinally of the insulated cable. A depth control member controls the depth of cut of the knife edge into the insulation layer. The clamping jaws are interconnected for simultaneous movement relative to the tool body, and have relatively short operating levers.

  • Patent number: 7096760
Abstract: A pliers-type stripping tool includes a base, a pair of pivot levers pivotally connected with the base, a pair of clamping members connected for relative longitudinal displacement on one of the pivot levers, a pair of cutting members connected for relative longitudinal displacement on the other of the pivot levers, a first spring biasing the clamping jaws apart, a second spring biasing the cutting jaws apart, and a first operating arrangement operable by a pair of pivotally-connected handles to displace the clamping and cutting jaws together from their normal separated conditions toward adjacent positions in clamping and insulation-piercing engagement with an insulated conductor positioned therebetween. The cutting members sever a length of the insulation layer that extends concentrically around the conductor, and a second operating arrangement is operable by the handles to separate the pivot levers, thereby to strip the severed insulation layer from the bare conductor.

  • Patent number: 6895836
Abstract: A pliers-type handtool includes fixed and movable handle members pivotally connected intermediate their ends, a movable jaw member pivotally connected with the fixed handle member jaw end, and a toggle device connecting the movable jaw member with the movable handle member. A cutting member is mounted for reciprocation within a chamber defined between the fixed handle member and the movable jaw member. • Patent number: 5572911
Abstract: A device for stripping conductor ends contains two stripping devices arranged in a mouth formed by clamping jaws. The two stripping devices can be displaced in a longitudinal direction of the mouth. At least one of the stripping devices includes a stack of laminates which are located side by side. The stack can be moved transversely with respect to the longitudinal direction of the mouth and has cutting edges which penetrate into insulation of a conductor which is held by the clamping jaws when the mouth is closed. A laminate guidance device is matched to the profile of the conductor and controls the laminate transverse movement in a corresponding manner. The laminate guidance device is located on the rear side of the laminate stack.

  • Patent number: 5500998
Abstract: Tongs for dressing conductor ends have two handles (3, 11) which can move relative to one another, at least two dressing stations (4, 8), and a drive device (10, 12, 20), via which the dressing stations can be driven during operation of the handles. At least one (18, 19) of the dressing stations (4, 8; 18, 19) can be coupled to the drive device (10, 12, 20) with the aid of the conductor end (28) which is to be dressed. The dressing station which can be coupled to the drive device is thus driven only when this is also actually required.

  • Patent number: 5400941
Abstract: Core end sleeves (22) are linked to one another in the form of a belt and in each case have a metal sleeve (70) in the front region and a plastic sleeve (71), which partially engages over the metal sleeve (70), in the rear region, via which the core end sleeves are connected to one another. The plastic sleeves are in each case provided on their rear end with a projection (72) which points to the rear and rests on an outer side of the belt. The height, running at right angles to the plane of the belt, of the projection (72) is independent of the diameter of the plastic sleeves (71). Core end sleeves (22) for different conductor cross-sections can thus be transported using one and the same core end sleeve guide track (63) which has a guide groove (67) on its one side wall (65) for the projections (72).

  • Patent number: 5347705
Abstract: Pliers for dressing conductor ends have two handles (3, 11) which can move relative to one another, a plurality of dressing stations for the conductor ends, and a drive device (21) via which the dressing stations can be driven during operation of the handles (3, 11). One of the dressing stations is constructed as a crimping drum (18) which can be displaced axially and is supported such that it can rotate and be coupled to the drive device (21) in the axially displaced position over only one dressing process. In this position, the station can be locked via a flange (52) which projects radially from it. This flange (52) extends over the overall circumference of the crimping drum (18) and has at least one recess (51).

  • Patent number: 5331742
Abstract: The invention relates to end cutters, in particular for cutting through cables, having two flat loose blades which are located one on top of the other, and rotatable about a common rotation shaft and can be driven by means of a drive device. Each loose blade is in this case acted on by a suitable cam disc which is located in the plane of the blade and is coupled to the drive device. A desired force response while cutting up material in the form of ropes can be achieved in a simple manner by selection of the radii of the cam discs.

  • Patent number: 5042286
Abstract: In a manually operated pliers-type tool comprising an elongated tool body with a part defining an operative section with two carrier means for operative means such as crimping die members, and a longitudinal operating lever, which is journalled to the tool body and together therewith defines a reverse handle arrangement, projects that part of the tool body and tool, which defines the operative section, in the direction from which the operating lever is attached to the tool body, and the operating lever terminates, in its folded-down position, before that projecting part, and is level therewith. In a preferred embodiment, one of the carrier means is embodied by at least one rocker which is pivotably mounted in the operative section with the aid of a resilient means, so that the respective operative means may recede to a certain degree under the effect of predetermined load.
