Abstract: A roll of material is unloaded from a roll changer of a web-processing machine. The roll changer includes a first arm having a first axle journal and a second arm having a second axle journal. The roll of material is rotatably supported between these two spaced axle journals. The first arm is moved axially outwardly until the first end of the roll is stripped off the first axle journal. The second arm is then also moved axially outwardly until the roll of material is stripped off the second axle journal.

Abstract: An adjusting device is mounted for rotation about a central axis and can be axially actuated. The adjusting device can be displaced or shifted between an inoperative position and at least one working position by an axially displaceable fluid-driven piston.

A linking or splicing device is used for linking, particularly by gluing the fresh web of material to the exhausting web. A cutting device is used to produce two web ends. The cutting device is located downstream of the linking or splicing device, as seen in a direction of travel of the expiring or exhausting web of material.

Abstract: The invention relates to a device for linking two webs of material (11, 16), each rolled up on a roll of material, especially webs of paper, during web-roll changing without stopping. Said device comprises a linking device (02, 07) for linking, especially gluing, the fresh web of material (16) with the expiring web of material (11), and a cutting device (03, 24) for severing the expiring web of material, thereby producing two web ends. The cutting device (03, 24) is disposed downstream of the linking device (02, 07) when seen in the direction of conveyance of the expiring web of material.

Abstract: An intermediate storage facility receives rolls on transport cars. The rolls have previously been prepared, by the application of an adhesive, at a roll preparation station. The prepared rolls, each on its individual transport car, are placed in the intermediate storage facility prior to being withdrawn from the intermediate storage facility for use in a roll changer of a web-fed rotary printing press. The intermediate storage facility is situated before, in the direction of roll transport travel, the roll changer, and after the roll preparation station.

Abstract: An installation is used to load and unload paper rolls in a roll changer of a web-fed rotary printing press. The paper supply rolls and the used paper rolls are supported on transport cars which run on guide tracks. These transport car guide tracks extend to the roll changer from one side of the roll changer.

Abstract: A transport car is useable to transport rolls to and from a roll changer in a printing press. The transport car has at least one receiver which extends generally perpendicular to the transport direction in which the transport car moves. A second transport car can be loaded onto the receiver of the first transport car. The transport car can be provided with two such receivers and thus can transport two additional transport cars.

Abstract: A retractable and extendable support journal for engaging and supporting paper web winding tubes in a printing press utilizes a plurality of spaced radially extendable and retractable clamping strips to securely connect the winding tube to the support journals. Each clamping strip has one or more material compressing or compacting ribs which compact the material of the winding tube to insure an interlocking connection between the tube and the support journal.

Abstract: An arrangement for the attachment of a paper web leading edge on a paper supply roll utilizes a rapidly setting material, such as a hot melt adhesive in the form of beads, drops or dots to attach the leading edge of the first paper web layer to the second layer. The drops or beads may bridge the junction of the leading edge with the second layer. Strings or threads, which are attached to the dots of the rapidly setting adhesive, may bridge the juncture.

Abstract: A leading edge of a paper web supply roll is prepared for utilization in a flying web splice. The paper web supply roll is supported adjacent a work carriage that is movable transversely across the face of the supply roll. As the work carriage moves across the web, a leading edge of the web is cut, spaced adhesive labels and a double sided adhesive splice tape are applied, and the lateral edges of the web adjacent the web leading edge are provided with angled lateral edge cuts.

Abstract: An adhesive arrangement for a paper web supply roll acts as both a holding and a connecting adhesive during a flying roll change. A leading portion of a first layer of the paper web is provided with a plurality of apertures. A double sided adhesive strip is placed on the leading portion of the first web layer and partially or completely overlies these apertures. Those portions of the adhesive strip overlying the apertures contact the second paper web layer and act as a holding adhesive.
