  • Patent number: 10060377
Abstract: A method for determining an imbalance of at least one cylinder in an arrangement of at least two cylinders in a system is provided, which includes an internal combustion engine, the imbalance of the at least one cylinder being present in relation to at least one property of an exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine and the determination of the imbalance of the at least one cylinder occurring with a sensor device for detecting at least one property of the exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine. A diagnostic threshold is ascertained through a dynamic characterization of the system with the sensor device, the dynamic characterization taking place after an excitation of the system. The diagnostic threshold makes it possible to delimit a range of potential erroneous detections which are caused due to a dispersion of an evaluating signal resulting from the imbalance of the at least one cylinder.

  • Patent number: 10036721
Abstract: A method is described for operating a sensor element for detecting at least one concentration of a gas in a measuring gas chamber. The sensor element includes at least one pump cell having at least two pump electrodes connected to each other by at least one solid electrolyte. At least one measuring variable is detected in the method, and at least one compensating variable is determined. The compensating variable is at least partially dependent on capacitive effects on at least one junction between at least one of pump electrodes and the solid electrolyte. At least one corrected measuring variable is determined from the measuring variable and the compensating variable. The concentration of the gas in the measuring gas chamber is determined from the corrected measuring variable.

  • Patent number: 9410922
Abstract: In a method for adjusting a gas sensor having a hollow chamber connected to a measuring gas chamber and having an electrochemical pump cell electrochemically pumping the gas component into or out of the hollow chamber, at least two pumping-in phases are provided in which the gas component is pumped into the hollow chamber by the electrochemical pump cell, and at least two pumping-out phases are provided in which the gas component is pumped out of the hollow chamber by the electrochemical pump cell. On the basis of at least one feature of the pump current during the pumping-out phases (Mout), at least one piece of information for adjusting the gas sensor is generated. A parameter regarding the pumping-in is predefined differently in the at least two pumping-in phases.

  • Patent number: 9222912
Abstract: A method for operating a sensor element, in particular a lambda sensor, for determining the concentration of a gas component of a gas mixture, in which the gas component is removed from a measuring gas chamber by applying a pump voltage and the concentration of the gas component in the gas mixture is inferred therefrom. Oscillations of the pump current caused by dynamic pressure variations are taken into consideration for a correction of the sensor signal in that a frequency analysis of the pump current is carried out.
