    Abstract: An intake system (10, 20) for a vehicle internal combustion engine is provided in which a first air intake duct (16), having an air intake inlet (16a) to inhale external air, is connected to an air cleaner box (14). A second air intake duct (17, 27) is also connected to the air cleaner box. The air intake inlet is closer to the air cleaner box than the second air intake duct is. The cross section area of a second air intake duct is greater than the cross section area of the first air intake duct. The center axis of the second air intake duct at an end on the side of a second air intake opening (12, 22) intersects with the center axis of the first air intake duct at an end on the side of a first air intake opening (11).

    Abstract: A housing of an air cleaner has an air inlet port and an air outlet port, and incorporates an air filter. In the housing, a fuel adsorption filter is arranged downstream of the air filter in such manner as to intersect an air passage. An open portion and a sheet-like adsorption portion are vertically defined in an outer frame of the fuel adsorption filter. The adsorption portion has a fuel adsorbing function. A weir is provided in a boundary between the open portion and the adsorption portion. The weir limits air flow from the upstream side of the adsorption portion to the upstream side of the open portion. A flow straightening plate having a flow straightening function is provided in the open portion.

    Abstract: Disclosed is an exhaust gas recirculation apparatus for an internal combustion engine, which has a vacuum operated flow control valve arranged on pipe means connecting the exhaust manifold of the engine with the intake manifold of the engine. When the throttle valve is opened from its idle position during the operation of the engine, the flow control valve is opened in order to recirculate exhaust gas from the exhaust manifold to the intake manifold. The apparatus further has means for opening the flow control valve when so-called "dieseling" takes place after the operation of the engine is stopped. The exhaust gas due to the dieseling can be recirculated and, thus, the dieseling is instantly stopped.

The fuel chamber leads by way of a check valve to a fuel reservoir or float bowl in a carburetor and by way of another check valve to a pump jet or nozzle which is open into an intake passage in a carburetor, while the vacuum chamber leads to a vacuum take-off port open in the intake passage downstream of a throttle valve. The fuel chamber is further communicated by way of a temperature responsive valve means with the fuel reservoir, and this valve means is adapted to open, when an ambient temperature exceeds a given temperature level.
