Abstract: A content reproduction apparatus includes a content reproduction unit which reproduces a content data item from a recording medium, the recording medium storing the content data item and a plurality of segment data items which are described in a structured document description language, the segment data items corresponding, respectively, to a plurality of time periods which are segments of a reproduction time period required for reproducing whole of the content data item, and each of the segment data items, which corresponds to each of the time periods, including a group of subtitle data items to be reproduced within the each of the time periods, and a subtitle reproduction unit which reproduces the group included in the each of the segment data items while a partial content data part which is to be reproduced within the each of the time periods is reproduced by the content reproduction unit.

Abstract: A screen data transmitting device for transmitting screen data to a screen display terminal through a network. A generation device generates a display image data. A storage device stores compression properties information associating a plurality of compression schemes with a plurality of classes of graphical user interface (GUI) components. A selection device selects one of the compression schemes with respect to a GUI component that is present in a region of the display image data. A compression device compresses the region of the display image data according to the selected compression scheme. Then, a transmission device transmits the screen data including the compressed display image data to the screen display terminal.

Abstract: In an image transmission apparatus an image data generator generates image data that represents an image. An updated image data generator generates updated image data that represents an updated image of an updated region of the image. A compressor compresses the updated image data. A transmitter stores the updated image data that is compressed by the compressor. An updated image data storage stores the updated image data. A transmission result storage stores transmission result data that includes quality information and time information, the quality information relating to an image quality, the time information indicating when the updated image data is generated. A transmission data selector selects the updated image data stored in the updated image data storage, and sets the image quality of the updated image data selected, according to the transmission result data stored in the transmission result storage.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, to implement video objects to be played back by a method different from an existing playback sequence, playlist information which is played back first is recorded when the medium stores an advanced content. The playlist information may be configured to include object mapping information which is included in each title and is mapped on the title timeline, playback information for each title described based on the timeline, and so on. The object mapping information may describe timings on the timeline to be loaded into a playback system for each predetermined information unit such as an application or object.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, video objects to be played back by a method different from an existing playback sequence with respect to contents recorded on a read-only information storage medium are implemented. The medium is configured to store startup information including one or more pieces of playlist information to be played back first when the medium stores an advanced content, and information used to determine which one of the pieces of playlist information is to be adopted.
