  • Patent number: 5260044
Abstract: A method for removing detrimental organic chlorine compounds such as polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans from a combustion waste gas, which comprises the steps of: bringing organic chlorine compounds contained in a combustion waste gas at a temperature within a range of from 150.degree. to 350.degree. C. into contact with a catalyst comprising at least one selected from the group consisting of platinum, palladium, ruthenium, manganese, copper, chromium and iron and oxides thereof, which catalyst is supported on the surface of a carrier containing at least titanium oxide, Aluminum oxide and silicon oxide, to cause a decomposition reaction of the organic chlorine compounds, thereby removing organic chlorine compounds from the combustion waste gas at a high efficiency.

  • Patent number: 5226374
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method of controlling combustion of a fluidized-bed incinerator. In a fluidized-bed incinerator (5), a method of controlling combustion of the fluidized-bed incinerator comprises measuring a supply rate of incineration waste by a supply rate measuring unit (11) using a photoelectric element (1) arranged on a shoot (2) for supplying incineration waste (3) from a dust feeder (4) to the incinerator (5), and when the supply rate of incineration waste is higher than a predetermined value, decreasing a supply rate of incineration waste of the dust feeder 4 to suppress a combusting operation, increasing an induced gas rate of an exhaust gas induced blower (9) of the incinerator to suppress an increase in an incinerator internal pressure decreasing a flow rate of fluidizing air of a forcing blower (7) to suppress a combusting operation, or increasing a flow rate of a blower (8) for supplying air to a free board portion to prevent production of an unburnt gas.

  • Patent number: 5169268
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of measuring a supply rate of incineration waste in a fluidized-bed incinerator. The method is characterized in that a passing state of incineration waste ( 3) is detected by an photoelectric element ( 1) arranged on a chute ( 2) for supplying the incineration waste from a dust feeder (4) to an incinerator (5), and a rate of waste (w) is calculated from a detection signal from the photoelectric element in accordance with the following equation: ##EQU1## where w: supply rate of waste per unit time; m: the number of photoelectric elements; t: detection signal time per unit time; T: unit time; and A: constant.

  • Patent number: 5129630
Abstract: A prereduction furnace of a smelting reduction facility comprises a fluidizing prereduction chamber in the upper part of the prereduction furnace wherein iron ores are fed and prereduced, a gas blowing chamber installed in the lower part of the prereduction furnace wherein a reducing gas is fed, a distributor for separating the fluidizing prereduction chamber from the gas blowing chamber, and a discharge pipe for discharging the prereduced ore from the fluidizing prereduction chamber. The distributor includes a body of refractory material, a metal plate installed on the bottom of the body, nozzles passing through the body and the metal plate, metallic pipes inserted in the nozzles, and cooling pipes connected to the metal plate. A metallic box may be installed below the metal plate for providing passages for gas flow. A bottom plate may be installed spacedly below the metal plate, with nozzles passing therethrough. The distributor may comprise a rigid thick plate and a refractory layer thereon.

  • Patent number: 4165705
Abstract: The coupling mechanism comprises a pair of spaced connecting rods secured to the stern of a barge and apparatus mounted on the tug for receiving the connecting rods. The rod receiving apparatus comprises a pair of vertical circular disc members each having a diameter smaller than the spacing between the connecting rods. Contact members are secured to the peripheries of the circular disc members to form a V shaped groove therebetween for receiving the connecting rods. The circular disc members are urged toward each other by a spring, and stop members are provided to limit the rotational movement of the circular disc members. A cushion member is provided to absorb the shock created when the tug and barge are coupled together. Further, a holding device is provided for holding the coupling mechanism in an operative state or in an inoperative state.
