  • Patent number: 8275762
Abstract: One embodiment is a method that generates points from an input space obtained from a query for a database. A kernel function maps the points from the input space to a feature space. • Patent number: 8032828
Abstract: A method and system for the transformation of extensible markup language (XML) documents. Specifically, one embodiment of the present invention discloses a method comprising modeling a source XML document corresponding to a source schema as a source tree having a plurality of source nodes, and modeling a target XML document corresponding to a target schema as a target tree having a plurality of target nodes. A sequence of transformation operations that transforms the source tree to the target tree is then generated.

  • Patent number: 7970826
Abstract: A computer language for facilitating communication between web services, where web services may use disparate input and output document formats, and system using same. A Conversation Definition Language (CDL) is extended with transformational information to a Transformational Conversation Definition Language (TCDL). The CDL defines document types, transitions and interactions of a conversation between two or more web services. In a preferred embodiment, the transformational information is a subset of the interaction information. Stylesheets are used to define the semantics of the required transformation and the appropriate stylesheets are identified in the TCDL file. A conversation controller component reads the TCDL files that correspond to a given conversation and utilizes the transformation information, when necessary to transform documents between web services without human intervention.

  • Patent number: 7822675
Abstract: Provided are systems, methods and techniques for, among other things, generating a master price quotation. In one representative embodiment, a representative creates a list that includes at least one item to be included within a master price quotation and submits the list to an automated bidding agent. In response, the automated bidding agent communicates requests for quotations to different automated entity agents, each such automated entity agent corresponding to a different entity. The automated bidding agent then receives the quotations from the automated entity agents, selects a best quotation, and communicates the best quotation to the representative for inclusion within the master price quotation.

  • Publication number: 20100082599
Abstract: One embodiment is a method that obtains query plans for queries in the workload. The query plans include a tree of operators and estimated cardinalities for nodes in the tree. The method then groups the operators for the queries and characterizes the workload in terms of grouped operators to predict performance of the queries before the queries execute in a database.

  • Patent number: 7607136
Abstract: A method, system, and apparatus is disclosed for interfacing with a distributed computing service. A semantic interpretation specification can be accessed that describes a behavior used to interface with the distributed computing service. The semantic interpretation specification is entered into a rules engine. A set of procedures is obtained from the rules engine for interacting with the distributed service. An interface with the distributed computing service can be formed using the set of procedures.

  • Patent number: 7135977
Abstract: A method of tracking an identification device includes storing data about the identification device in a register, the data to be stored including data relating to a forwarding location to which requests for information about the identification device should be forwarded. The identification device is attached to an item to be monitored. The method includes accessing the register when the identification device has been read and a request for information has been received. Details of the forwarding location are obtained from the register. The request is forwarded to the forwarding location and the requested information about the identification device is sent from the forwarding location to a requester of the information.

  • Patent number: 7117201
Abstract: A system and method for resource handling provides for receiving a query and providing a response. The query is used to search resources locally available. Metadata is associated with each of the resources. The resources and the metadata are both analyzed with respect to the query such that a response indicative of a match between at least two of the resources and the query is a ranked search result included in the response. The invention is exemplified in an adaptation to peer-to-peer network applications.

  • Patent number: 6845380
Abstract: A method and system of valuing transformation between XML documents. Specifically, one embodiment of the present invention discloses a method for calculating a transformation cost for a transformation operation that transforms a source node in a source XML document to a target node in a target XML document. A data loss and potential data loss is measured for the transformation operation. Also, the operands in the transformation operation are scaled to measure their impact on the data loss and potential data loss. A transformation cost is calculated by considering the data loss, potential data loss, and scaling.
