  • Patent number: 6244674
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a brake control system for an electrically operated vehicle, which is adapted to reduce a regenerative braking torque and add a hydraulic braking force. A motor control unit is provided for controlling an electric motor to apply a rotating force to a wheel and apply the regenerative braking torque to the wheel. A pressure control device is provided for controlling a hydraulic braking pressure generated by a pressure generator in response to operation of a manually operated braking member, and supplied to a wheel brake cylinder, which is operatively mounted on the wheel for applying a hydraulic braking force to the wheel. The regenerative braking torque is reduced in response to a braking condition monitored by a monitor. A pressure difference is detected between the hydraulic braking pressure of the brake fluid discharged from the pressure generator and the hydraulic braking pressure in the wheel brake cylinder.

  • Patent number: 6216808
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a brake control system for an electrically operated vehicle which is adapted to reduce a regenerative braking torque and add a hydraulic braking force to compensate for lack of the regenerative braking torque, when voltage of a battery exceeds an upper limit. A motor control unit is provided for controlling an electric motor to apply a rotating force to a wheel and apply the regenerative braking torque to the wheel. A pressure control device is provided for supplying pressurized brake fluid to a wheel brake cylinder in response to operation of a manually operated braking member to apply the hydraulic braking force to the wheel. A reducing device is provided for reducing the regenerative braking torque when the voltage of the battery exceeds a predetermined upper limit.

  • Patent number: 6070954
Abstract: In an electrically operated vehicle in which a regenerative braking operation is performed to apply a regenerative braking torque to a wheel, if the regenerative braking torque reaches its maximum value and is insufficient to brake the wheel, a static hydraulic pressure outputted from a master cylinder is supplied to the wheel brake cylinder mounted on the wheel until the brake pedal reaches a retained position. Thereafter, a dynamic hydraulic pressure is supplied to the wheel brake cylinder. While the brake pedal is in movement from the rest position to the retained position, the wheel brake cylinder is supplied with only the static hydraulic pressure and while the brake pedal is being retained at the retained position the wheel brake cylinder is supplied with the static hydraulic pressure and the dynamic hydraulic pressure.

  • Patent number: 5326158
Abstract: A brake controlling apparatus in an electric vehicle comprising a hydraulic brake including a fluid pressure generating and applying device having a characteristic in which the fluid consumption rises in the fluid-pressure range of 0 to P.sub.0, and brakes the driving wheels by the fluid pressure of the fluid pressure applying device. A regenerative brake brakes the driving wheels by the regeneration of the power of a driving motor. A fluid flow cut-off device cuts off the flow of hydraulic fluid from the fluid pressure generating device to the fluid pressure applying device when the fluid pressure of the fluid pressure generating device exceeds P.sub.0. A fluid flow inducing device induces the flow of hydraulic fluid from the fluid pressure generating device to the fluid pressure applying device while maintaining the pressure difference between the fluid pressure generating and applying devices when the pressure difference exceeds .DELTA.P.sub.r.

  • Patent number: 5253929
Abstract: A brake control system mounted in an electrical vehicle for controlling a hydraulic brake and a regenerative brake. The hydraulic brake generates a hydraulic pressure depending on an amount of depression of a brake pedal so as to mechanically brake at least drive wheels. The regenerative brake brakes the drive wheels due to a regeneration of a running motor. A reducing valve is provided in a hydraulic pressure transmission path to the drive wheels to be braked by the hydraulic brake. The reducing valve is opened when the hydraulic pressure genrated in a cylinder is at least a valve open value to allow a hydraulic pressure transmission to drive wheel pipings. An ECU calculates a regenerative torque command value depending on a pressure difference between the front and rear of the reducing valve, detected by a sensor, and controls the regenerative brake on the basis of the regenerative torque command value.

  • Patent number: 5236257
Abstract: A pressure generating apparatus for a hydraulic brake system, including a master cylinder having a pressure piston which partially defines a pressure chamber and which is advanced to generate a fluid pressure in the pressure chamber in response to an operation of a brake operating member. The apparatus further includes inhibiting device having a non-operated state for allowing the pressure piston to be advanced, and an operated state for inhibiting the pressure piston from being advanced, and a pressure changing device having a pressure changing chamber communicating with the pressure chamber. The pressure changing device operates to change a volume of the pressure changing chamber and thereby change the pressure chamber pressure. A controller is provided for controlling the inhibiting device and the pressure changing device, to change the pressure in the pressure chamber while the inhibiting device is placed in the operated state.

  • Patent number: 4321590
Abstract: In combination with a fluid reservoir in which a magnetically operable switch is assembled to be closed by magnetic force of a permanent magnet on a float such that a warning signal is issued when the float moves down to a lower warning position dependent on a minimum fluid level in the reservoir, a check mechanism includes a spring loaded vertical rod extending into the interior of the reservoir from the exterior and arranged to be engaged at its lower end with the float when the surface of fluid is maintained at a predetermined level. When the vertical rod is pushed downward, the float is forcibly moved down to the lower warning position to check malfunction of the switch.

  • Patent number: 4240671
Abstract: A braking hydraulic pressure control unit for a motor vehicle including a differential-acting piston having a plurality of pressure bearing portions facing an inlet compartment and an outlet compartment communicating with a master cylinder and rear wheel cylinders, respectively, of a vehicle braking system. The differential-acting piston is formed with shoe clearance compensating piston segments operative to reduce an inflow of a braking fluid into a spherical valve chamber at initial stages of brake application whereby unfavorable influences which would otherwise be exerted by the size of shoe clearances on a spherical valve at initial stages of brake application can be prevented.
