Patent number: 4429769Abstract: A floating caliper type disc brake comprising a pair of friction pads, a caliper adapted to be mounted on a stationary member to slide thereon in the direction of the axis of a rotatable disc, each of the friction pads having on opposite ends in the direction of the circumference of the disc projections for mounting slidably the friction pads on the stationary member, and a guide plate adapted to be interposed between the stationary member and each of projections of friction pads in mounting the friction pads on the stationary member.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1982Date of Patent: February 7, 1984Assignee: Tokico Ltd.Inventors: Harumi Oshima, Tukasa Uno

Patent number: 4422534Abstract: A disc brake including a stationary member secured to a non-rotatable part of a vehicle, a pair of friction pads provided on opposite sides of a rotatable disc, a caliper supported on the stationary member and being displaceable in the direction of the axis of the disc, a brake actuator incorporated in the caliper for applying one friction pad against one surface of the disc and displacing the caliper to apply the other friction pad against the other surface of the disc. The stationary member has a pair of arms which are spaced in the circumferential direction with respect to the disc and respectively straddle the circumference of the disc to extend from one side of the disc to the other side for supporting the friction pads. A pad spring formed of an elongated member and by bending process is provided between the pad springs and each of the arms which supports the central portion of the pad spring.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 1983Date of Patent: December 27, 1983Assignee: Tokico Ltd.Inventor: Harumi Oshima

Patent number: 4408681Abstract: A disc brake including a stationary member having a pair of legs spaced in the direction of the circumference of a rotatable disc and straddling respectively the outer circumference of the disc to define respectively thereon pad guiding portions which are interrupted by respective grooves in the legs, a pair of friction pads disposed on opposite sides of the disc and slidably supported on the pad guiding portions, a caliper supported slidably on the stationary member, and a pad spring provided between the stationary member and the friction pads. The pad spring is retained on the stationary member and has a stop for restricting the sliding movement of at least one friction pad approaching toward the disc.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1981Date of Patent: October 11, 1983Assignee: Tokico Ltd.Inventor: Harumi Oshima

Patent number: 4394891Abstract: A disc brake including a carrier adapted to be secured to a non-rotatable part of a vehicle and having two circumferentially spaced arm portions which straddle respectively the outer circumference of a rotatable disc, a pair of friction pads supported on the arm portions of the carrier to slide in the direction of the axis of the disc, a caliper mounted on the carrier to slide in the direction of the axis of the disc and having a limb portion straddling the outer circumference of the disc, and a brake actuator incorporated in the caliper for pressing one of friction pads against one surface of the disc, whereby the reaction force of the brake actuator displaces the caliper with respect to the carrier to transmit the brake applying force to the other friction pad through the limb portion of the caliper. A pad spring formed by bending a rod member is retained on the caliper to bias the friction pads in the radially inward direction with respect to the disc.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 1981Date of Patent: July 26, 1983Assignee: Tokico Ltd.Inventor: Harumi Oshima

Patent number: 4392559Abstract: A disc brake comprising a caliper slidably mounted on a stationary member and adapted to be disassembled therefrom in the radially outward direction with respect to a rotatable disc. The caliper incorporates a brake actuator in one limb portion thereof for pressing one friction pad against one surface of the disc and has the other limb portion for transmitting brake applying force to the other friction pad. A pad supporting member is provided on the caliper for suspending at least one friction pad from the caliper when the caliper and the friction pad are disassembled from the caliper; and the pad supporting member is spaced from the friction pad such that any force is transmitted through the pad supporting member when the caliper and the friction pad are assembled with the stationary member.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 1981Date of Patent: July 12, 1983Assignee: Tokico Ltd.Inventor: Harumi Oshima

Patent number: 4364455Abstract: A disc brake including a friction pad disposed on one surface of a rotatable disc and a stationary member displaceably supporting thereon the friction pad. A resilient member is provided between the stationary member and the friction pad for biassing the friction pad in the direction separating from the disc when the friction pad has been urged against the disc in applying the brake.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 1982Date of Patent: December 21, 1982Assignee: Tokico Ltd.Inventor: Harumi Oshima

Patent number: 4304416Abstract: A dust cover formed of a flexible material for sealing a space between a shaft and a body member which fittingly receives the shaft, with one end portion of the dust cover being connected to the shaft at the location projecting out of the body member, and the other end portion thereof being secured to the body member. The intermediate portion of the dust cover connecting the opposite end portions comprises a thick portion extending from the end portion secured to the body member and a thin thickness portion connecting the thick portion with the end portion connected to the shaft. The inner circumference of the thick portion sealingly engages with the shaft.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 1979Date of Patent: December 8, 1981Assignee: Tokico Ltd.Inventor: Harumi Oshima
