  • Patent number: 8526761
Abstract: An image processing unit includes a second-taken image generation unit which performs a blurring process on a first taken image including a plurality of small areas so as to generate a second taken image, a focus degree deriving unit which derives a focus degree of each small area, and a combination process unit which combines each small area of the first taken image with each second small area of the second taken image corresponding to each small area of the first taken image. The combination process unit sets a mixing ratio of the second taken image in the combination to a larger value as a focus degree of each small area derived by the focus degree deriving unit is smaller. The second-taken image generation unit includes a face area detection unit which detects a face image area from the first taken image, and a blurring process unit which performs the blurring process on the first taken image on the basis of the detected face image area so as to generate the second taken image.

  • Patent number: 8223223
Abstract: An image sensing apparatus senses first and second images, and produces a merged image by merging the first and second images together. An exposure time for the second image is longer than an exposure time for the first image. By sensing the first image before the second image, the first image is prevented from being sensed during a camera-shake-increase period starting a long time after the input of a image-sensing-start instruction. Also, by waiting for an image-sensing standby time to elapse before sensing the first image, the first image can be sensed during a period of a particularly small camera shake.

  • Publication number: 20120127330
Abstract: Provided is an image pickup device that enables distortion compensation with high precision. Exposure and reading are conducted on pixel rows that are discontinuous with respect to a vertical direction of an image pickup element, and multiple low resolution images are obtained. Each of these multiple low resolution images has a lower distortion than an ordinary image obtained by conducting an ordinary continuous exposure and reading. Therefore, output images with reduced distortion can be generated by using the low resolution images.

  • Patent number: 8134604
Abstract: Movement of an imaging device is detected using a camera shake detection sensor or a motion vector obtained from an image signal, and camera shake correction is performed by shifting an extraction frame (valid photographing region) within a photographable maximum region based on the motion detection result. When movement of the imaging device is causing a face region located at the edge of the extraction frame to move towards out of the frame, it is determined that the movement is due to camera shake, and the extraction frame is moved so that the face region can stay within the frame. Meanwhile, when movement of the imaging device is causing the face region to move inward within the frame, it is determined that the movement is due to a pan or tilt operation, and position control is performed so that the deliberate movement is not inhibited.

  • Patent number: 7956897
Abstract: A plurality of divided exposure images (first to fourth images) are obtained by dividing a normal exposure time. By an image matching method, a motion detection circuit calculates a plurality of cumulative total correlation values between different divided exposure images, and searches the plurality of cumulative total correlation values for the smallest cumulative total correlation value, thereby calculating a motion vector between the different divided exposure images. In addition, based on the level of the smallest cumulative total correlation value, the level of reliability B[i] indicating the accuracy of the motion vector is calculated. An image combining circuit uses the level of reliability B[i] as a mixture proportion. The image combining circuit positions the divided exposure images based on the motion vector, and combines the divided exposure images together one on top of another in mixture proportions (B[i]), so as to form one still image that suffers less from camera shake.

  • Publication number: 20110069074
Abstract: A switching amount indicating an amount, by which corresponding images are switched, is set based on a switching instruction, which is input by a user. When a displayed corresponding image does not have a close correlation with at least a corresponding image to be displayed next, the corresponding images are switched by a first switching amount, which is determined based on the switching instruction. When the correlation is close, the corresponding images are switched by a second switching amount, which is determined by a method different from that of the first switching amount.

  • Patent number: 7893964
Abstract: In an imaging device that generates a correction image by performing, on the basis of shake information on a target image, shake correction processing on the target image when a correction instruction is issued by a user while the target image is displayed on a display unit, and that displays the corrected image on the display unit, preceding correction performs the shake correction processing before the issuing of the correction instruction. To suppress an increase in power consumption, due to the preceding correction, however, the preceding correction is not performed when the amount of camera shake of a target image is determined to be too small by referring to the amount of shake of a target image. Moreover, the frequency of the issuing of correction instructions for a target image in the past is referenced, and in a case where the frequency is low, the preceding correction is not performed.
