    Abstract: An information reproducing apparatus for reproducing information recorded on slant information tracks includes magnetic heads mounted on a rotary cylinder. The magnetic heads scan a magnetic tape which has slant information tracks on which tracking pilot signals are formed. A tracking error detector detects the tracking error signal of the magnetic head scanning using the tracking pilot signal recorded on the slant information tracks. The tracking error detector then generates a tracking error signal indicating the amount of the track bending. A control signal generator generates a control signal in response to the tracking error signal for controlling the scanning position of the magnetic head. A tracking controller controls the slant track scanning position of the magnetic head.

    Abstract: An editing apparatus is for use with a tape-form recording medium in which a tracking pilot signal and several synchronizing blocks each of which contains a synchronizing signal, a synchronizing signal number and a recording mode data are multiplex-recorded into a first recording area of each track which has a plurality of recording areas. Using the synchronizing signal and the synchronizing signal number, a pilot sampling signal for determining the timing of sampling the pilot signal and an editing timing signal for determining the recording location in a desired recording area following the first recording area are produced. Using the recording mode data, the discrimination of the current recording mode is carried out. After the tracking control is executed through sampling the tracking pilot signals from adjacent tracks at timing of the pilot sampling signal, a data signal is recorded into the desired recording area after the first recording area according to the editing timing signal.

    Abstract: A tape medium recording and/or reproducing apparatus suited for use in recording or reproducing information on or from a plurality of tracks on a tape medium. Each track has first and second regions defined therein in a direction conforming to the direction of scan. Each first region has a positioning signal recorded therein while a tracking pilot signal is recorded in selected ones of the first regions. The apparatus includes a positioning signal detector for detecting the positioning signal to provide a reproducing position signal, and a reproduction timing generator for generating a reproduction timing signal at a first timing determined by the reproducing position signal. A timing memory is provided to store the length of time from the timing, at which the rotational reference position of a cylinder has been detected, to the first timing.

    Abstract: A pilot signal is superposed and recorded on data at the beginning of each track. The beginning portion of the track is constituted only of codewords having a disparity of each 10 bits which is +2, 0 or -2. Also, the cumulative value of the disparities of every 10 bits may fluctuate in a period coinciding with the period of the pilot signal to be superposed. Therefore, the frequency spectrum in the beginning part of the track has a peak at the frequency of pilot signal, and using this peak as the pilot signal, tracking is controlled during reproduction.

The index area for recording the time code is divided into a plurality of small areas in one track, and the same time code is recorded in each small region.     Abstract: A multiple channel magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus records data on oblique tracks on a tape by a leading head and trailing head mounted on a rotating drum. First and second pilot areas for tracking are turned at opposite ends of each track. A tracking error detector is provided for receiving, when the leading head is scanning the first pilot area, a first reproduced signal from the first head, and for detecting two pilot signals from the tracks on both Sides of a scanning track, and for generating a first tracking error signal indicative of a difference between the detected two pilot signals. Similarly, the tracking error detector receives, when the trailing head is scanning the second pilot area, a second reproduced signal from the second head, and for detecting two pilot signals from tracks on both sides of a scanning track, and for generating a second tracking error signal indicative of a difference between the detected two pilot signals.

    Abstract: In an apparatus for multi-segment recording/reproducing of a compressed digital video signal, a reproduced position within a group unit of the video signal is detected by a reproduced position detector in its reproducing state. A relative position detector detects and stores a phase difference of the reproduced position and a position indicated by a reference signal synchronized with the input video signal. A delay time adjuster adjusts a delay time of the compressed video signal according to this phase difference. A head is changed over from its reproducing state to its recording state by a switch so as to record the compressed video signal delayed by the delay time adjuster on a recording medium.

    Abstract: The present invention purports to provide a tape recording/reproducing apparatus capable of causing a plurality of tapes having different width respectively to travel smoothly and its cassette. The cassette positioning spring 1 gives an appropriate pressing force even in the case that the cassettes have different thicknesses, and the cassettes are respectively fixed at predetermined positions so that the lower edges of the magnetic tape 3a, 3b are positioned at the same height. The flange 9 of the guide post 12 is shifted in an up-and-down direction in response to a magnetic tape width signal detected through the cassette detecting switch 13 or the beginning edge detector 14a, or the ending edge detector 14b, so that even narrow magnetic tape 3a can travel at the predetermined height. Furthermore, by changing the inclined angle and/or the inclined direction of the movable post 10, a downward torsion force is applied to the narrow magnetic tape 3a.

    Abstract: A tracking error detecting circuit in which tracking error detecting pilot signals having different frequencies are added to a main signal every track and recorded onto a magnetic recording medium, and upon reproduction, reproduction output levels of the pilot signals reproduced as crosstalks from both of adjacent tracks are compared, and a tracking error is detected. n signals having the same frequencies as those of the pilot signals and whose phases are different are generated and multiplied to the reproduction signal. Unnecessary components are eliminated by n LPFs (Lowpass filters). The amplitude values of the reproduced pilot signals are vector separated and detected. Further, the vector separated amplitude values are vector synthesized and detected. Therefore, by multiplying the signals having the same frequencies as those of the pilot signals, the synchronous detection is performed.

    Abstract: An information reproducing apparatus detects a reproducing area on a disk having information recorded thereon at an approximately constant linear velocity. A reproduced signal is generated by rotating the disk mounted on a shaft of a motor, and reading out the information recorded on the rotating disk with an information reproducing head. A frequency detecting circuit generates a frequency signal indicative of the number of rotations of the motor. This frequency signal is compared with the reproduced signal to detect the number of pulses of the reproduced signal contained in one period of the frequency signal. A reproducing area on the disk is detected by comparing the detected number of pulses with a predetermined value, since this number of pulses has a value corresponding to a radial position on the disk.

    Abstract: An optical information recording apparatus optically records digital information on a recording medium, for example, a disc, a tape and so on. The area of an optical spot cannot be made smaller than a minimum area determined by a numerical aperture of an objective lens and the wave length of a reproducing beam. Consequently, this causes a problem that the code of digital signals often fails to be discriminated in reproducing short pits and/or short pit-intervals which are recorded on the recording medium. The apparatus detects a phase difference between each edge of an input digital signal and each corresponding edge of a digital signal reproduced from the recording medium. The edges of a next input digital signal of the same code construction as that of the first input signal are corrected by a correction amount according to the above phase difference, and such operations are repeated whenever input digital signals are inputted.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein is an optical information reproducing apparatus having a phase difference tracking system which is free from an influence of a tangential phase difference of output signals from a photodetector. The photodetector comprises first through fourth photocells which are respectively disposed at first through fourth quadrants defined by a first straight line parallel to an information track image and a second straight line perpendicular to the first straight line. Output signals of the first and second photocells are delayed for a specified time by respective first and second delaying circuits. Output signals of the first delaying circuit and the third photocell are added by a first adder, and output signals of the second delaying circuit and the fourth photocell are added by a second adder. A phase comparator produces a tracking error signal from a phase difference between output signals of the first and second adders.

    Abstract: An optical information read apparatus for optically reading information recorded on a recording medium includes an optical head for producing two detected signals whose phases vary according to a tracking error of the head, and a tracking error detecting circuit for producing a tracking error signal corresponding to a phase difference between the two detected signals, and a tracking controller for controlling the optical head in response to the tracking error signal. The tracking error detecting circuit has a correlation test circuit for checking a correlation between the states of the two detected signals, and for making the tracking error signal substantially invalid when there is no correlation between the states of the two detected signals. Thus, a stable tracking control can be performed.
