Abstract: There is provided an Al base alloy containing boron which is superior in mechanical properties such as strength, ductility or workability and the like and has a neutron absorbing capacity and an ability to recycle. This is an Al base alloy containing boron with Mg: 2 to 8% (massed %, similarly applied hereinafter) and B: 0.5 to 1.5% and satisfying a relation of .sup.10 B/(.sup.10 B+.sup.11 B).gtoreq.95%, and a rate of AlB.sub.2 in all boron compounds is 80% or more by a volumetric rate.

Abstract: A packaging for radioactive materials, including a packaging body made of cast iron or cast steel, and a shielding material which is cast within the packaging body in the casting of the packaging body thereby installing firmly the shielding material within the packaging body and attaining an excellent X-ray and neutron shielding from radioactive materials therein.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for thermal dehydration of brown coal, by which an excellent heat recovery can be accomplished. The method includes the steps of admixing raw brown coal with a solvent to prepare a slurry, preheating the slurry in a heat exchanger, heating the same at 100.degree. to 300.degree. C., passing it through a gas-liquid separator to separate it into a steam-containing vapor and a dehydrated slurry and recoverying the dehydrated slurry while the steam-containing vapor is recycled to the heat exchanger so as to be utilized as a heating medium for preheating the slurry.
