  • Patent number: 5759441
Abstract: A halogen scavenger contains as an effective ingredient an aromatic compound which has a resonance-effect-relying electron donating group as a substituent. The aromatic compound is constituted, for example, by an aromatic ring such as a substituted or unsubstituted benzene, naphthalene, anthracene and pyridine ring, and at least one group (a resonance-effect-relying electron donating group) which contains a lone-pair-containing hetero atom, such as an oxygen, sulfur or nitrogen atom, adjacent to the aromatic ring.

Date of Patent: June 2, 1998
Assignee: S. T. Chemical Co., Ltd.
    Inventors: Yoshikazu Tokuoka, Haruo Shibatani
  • Patent number: 5534229
Abstract: A volatilization suppressing agent comprising at least one thermosensitive polymer as an effective component is disclosed. Also disclosed is a volatile composition comprising a volatile effective component or an effective component carried by a volatile solvent and at least one thermosensitive polymer are disclosed. The use of the volatilization suppressing agent can suppress volatilization of volatile components when temperature rises and, as a result, volatilization of the volatile components is less affected by the temperature change. It is therefore possible to volatilize volatile components from air fresheners, deodorants, insecticides, moth proofers, repellents, attractants, antimicrobial agents, antifungal agents, antioxidants, and ozone decomposition agents more economically and to prevent troubles due to excessive volatilization.

  • Patent number: 4929404
Abstract: A graphitic or carbonaceous molding comprising graphite powder and a mesophase-containing pitch is obtained by suspending graphite powder in a tar, heating the suspension while blowing an inert gas therein to form the mesophase-containing pitch on the graphite particles to obtain carbonaceous precursors and molding/carbonizing or graphitizing the carbonaceous precursors.

  • Patent number: 4596652
Abstract: A process for producing a mesophase pitch by heating a carbonaceous pitch at 350.degree. to 550.degree. C. wherein the heat treatment is conducted while supplying a hydrogen donor to the pitch. The mesophase pitch thus produced has an excellent spinnability.

  • Patent number: 4528087
Abstract: Mesophase pitch containing quinoline soluble mesophase is produced from a pitch having a specific aromatic hydrogen content with a short heat treatment time without conducting any special treatment such as extraction.

  • Patent number: 4300002
Abstract: A polycyclic diol is produced by a hydroformylation of a polycyclic bridged ring olefinic compound having another double bond, formyl or methylol group, in the presence of a cobalt compound and a phosphine as a catalyst in the presence of a saturated hydrocarbon or aromatic hydrocarbon.Polycyclic diols such as tricyclodecanedimethylol are useful for hardeners for non-solvent type lacquers polyurethanes having heat resistant and chemical resistance or epoxy resins.
