  • Patent number: 4725023
Abstract: A geostatic satellite comprises a spinning drum for stabilization which spins around an axis of rotation which is parallel to the axis of the earth. A paddle member loaded with solar cells is directly rotatable about the same axis and is controlled such that the solar cells face the sun. A despun platform supports communication gear and maintains the gear pointed to a relatively fixed point on earth. A shading device for shading the electronics laden despun platform from the sun, is attached to the paddle member and rotatable therewith. Thereby, the shading device will always be disposed between the sun and the despun platform.

  • Patent number: 4384358
Abstract: In order to reduce bit errors resulting in a space-diversity broad-band digital radio receiver from selective fading, an amplitude dispersion detector detects the amplitude dispersion caused, if any, by the selective fading in each of IF signals produced by the space-diversity reception and produces a detector output having an amplitude variable with the detected amplitude dispersion and used in combining the IF signals. The detector may comprise three band-pass filters having different narrow passbands in the IF band to produce filter outputs with amplitudes dependent on first-order and second-order dispersion components of the amplitude dispersion. Alternatively, the detector may comprise a band-pass filter having a narrow passband repeatedly variable throughout the IF band at a lower frequency to produce a filter output with an amplitude variable with the first-order and the second-order dispersion components and, above all, with a notch-shaped dispersion component.

  • Patent number: 4209754
Abstract: A ceramic capacitor with at least one semiconductor device mount hole, comprising a metal substrate and a dielectric ceramic layer provided with electrode layer on its surfaces and mounted on the substrate. At least the lateral surface of the mount hole in the electrode layer bound to the substrate is covered with an insulating material. The ceramic capacitors have good thermal conductivity and adapted to be used with semiconductor devices designed for power applications.

  • Patent number: 4134069
Abstract: A radio relay for transmitting single side band (SSB) multiplex signals is disclosed. The receiving (or transmitting) frequencies on the up link and the down link at a repeater station are made different from each other for the purpose of reducing interference crosstalk between the transmission signals. More particularly, a shift frequency corresponding to the difference between the receiving frequency and the transmitting frequency on the up link or the down link at a repeater station A is selected in sequence from any one of the reference shift frequency fc and a plurality of shift frequencies deviated from the reference shift frequency according to the relation fc + n.sub.i x .DELTA.f, where n.sub.i is a positive or negative integers and .DELTA.f is a radix deviation frequency.

  • Patent number: 3942118
Abstract: A delay circuit provides a flat delay versus frequency characteristic over a first band of frequencies by combining two delay equalizers having opposite signed and equal magnitude slopes of delay versus frequency over two different bands of frequencies. The first frequency band is translated to a second band which is applied to the first of two delay equalizers. The latter has a transfer characteristic which is a substantially constant slope of delay versus frequency for a band encompassing and much wider than said second band. The output of the latter element is translated back to the first frequency band. The first band, either prior to the initial frequency translation or subsequent to the second frequency translation, is applied to a second delay equalizer. The characteristic slopes of the two delay equalizers are of substantially equal magnitude but of opposite sign.
