  • Patent number: 9240072
Abstract: A sense of three-dimensionality and thickness is restored to a subject and a high-quality three-dimensional image with a low sense of a cardboard cutout effect is obtained, regardless of the cause of the cardboard cutout effect. In a three-dimensional image capturing apparatus (three-dimensional image processing apparatus) (1000), a depth generation unit (103) obtains L depth information and R depth information from a three-dimensional image, and an image correction unit (104) executes a shadow enhancement process that is stronger on the inside of an object than on the outside of the object, based on the L depth information and the R depth information. Through this, the occurrence of the cardboard cutout effect can be suppressed, and a high-quality three-dimensional image with a reduced cardboard cutout effect can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 9128367
Abstract: A 3D imaging device obtains a 3D image (3D video) that achieves an appropriate 3D effect and/or intended placement. The 3D imaging device estimates (calculates) an ideal disparity of a main subject based on a preset viewing environment (display condition) and a distance to the main subject, and obtains a disparity (an actual disparity) of the subject (main subject) actually occurring on a virtual screen. The 3D imaging device obtains a correction disparity using the ideal disparity and the actual disparity, and adds the calculated correction disparity to the 3D image (horizontally shifts the image) to perform appropriate disparity correction. The 3D imaging device obtains a 3D image (3D video) that achieves an appropriate 3D effect and/or intended placement without being affected by a disparity occurring in the horizontal direction caused by insufficient precision (in particular, insufficient optical precision).

  • Patent number: 9064331
Abstract: A three-dimensional image processing device for performing image correction processing on a three-dimensionally-viewed image includes a conversion unit and a composition unit. The conversion unit generates a converted image by performing tone conversion on a pixel value in an object included in the three-dimensionally-viewed image based on a relationship between a pixel value of a pixel of interest that is a processing target and a pixel value of a peripheral pixel of the pixel of interest. The composition unit synthesizes an n-th pixel in a first viewpoint image included in the three-dimensionally-viewed image and a corresponding pixel in a second viewpoint image included in the three-dimensionally-viewed image with a distribution ratio that is based on a subject distance of the n-th pixel. The corresponding pixel is located in the same spatial location as the n-th pixel.

  • Patent number: 8786764
Abstract: An imaging apparatus for capturing a moving image performs backlight correction of an image and outputs a natural image. The imaging apparatus electronically captures an image of a subject. An optical system has a light amount adjustment function. An imaging unit reads an optical image of the subject that is formed by the optical system. An A/D converter subjects an output of the imaging unit to A/D conversion. A backlight correction unit converts the tones of an image read by the A/D converter using a conversion characteristic selected differently according to a spatial position and at least increases the luminance level of a dark region of the image. An instruction unit instructs to start backlight correction. A control unit operates the backlight correction unit based on an instruction signal output from the instruction unit, and decreases an exposure light amount of the optical system by a predetermined amount.

  • Patent number: 8750601
Abstract: In the three-dimensional imaging device (three-dimensional image processing device), the depth acquisition unit acquires L depth information and R depth information from a three-dimensional image. The image correction unit adjusts disparities of edge portion areas of a subject based on the L depth information and the R depth information such that the normal positions of the edge portion areas of the subject are farther away. Accordingly, when a three-dimensional image acquired by the three-dimensional imaging device is three-dimensionally displayed, the edge areas of the subject are displayed having a sense of roundness. As a result, a three-dimensional image that has been subjected to processing by this three-dimensional image processing device is a high-quality three-dimensional image that can appropriately reproduce the three-dimensional appearance and sense of thickness of the subject and has little of the cardboard effect.

  • Patent number: 8711255
Abstract: A visual processing apparatus comprises a spatial processing unit and a visual processing unit. The spatial processing unit is operable to perform a predetermined process to an inputted image signal using surrounding pixels of a target pixel and output an processed signal. The visual processing unit is operable to input the inputted image signal and the processed signal and output an output signal that is visual-processed. The visual processing unit has a property in which, in an area where a value of the image signal is almost equal to a value of the processed signal, a proportion of a change of the output signal to a change of the inputted image signal when the processed signal is fixed to a predetermined level is greater than the proportion when the image signal is equal to the processed signal.
