    Abstract: Therapeutic compositions are administered to the ocular tissues by positioning a balloon catheter having an illuminating fiberoptic stylette therein in the retrobulbar or parabulbar space of a patient. After the catheter is properly positioned, the composition is sequentially injected at predetermined intervals over a period of time. A variety of compositions can be administered including corticosteroids, antibiotics, macular degeneration alleviating compositions and inflammation alleviating compositions. Such administration of the therapeutic composition sustains appropriate levels of the composition in the ocular tissues without inducing toxic effects in unaffected tissues.
