  • Patent number: 11644344
Abstract: A magnetic encoder includes one or more sensors and an encoder element having at least two tracks of encoder regions. Each region comprises a magnetic pole. Each sensor has one or more sensing elements associated with a respective track and generates an output that is indicative of the magnetic field associated with that track. At least one track has a differing number of poles to at least one of the other tracks. The properties of the poles of a first one of the tracks differ along the track such that there is a periodic variation along the first track of the magnetic field emitted by the first track that is detected by the sensing elements associated with the first track which at least partially cancels out a corresponding periodic variation in field from the other tracks that is also detected by the sensing elements associated with the first track.

  • Patent number: 6924439
Abstract: The invention herein pertains to improved methods and apparatus for electrically coupling components within a digital data system without the use of ribbon cables and other wires. The disclosed coupling device comprises a body member and at least one finger member. The body member physically and electrically couples with components mounted on a circuit board by mating with component pins extending on a solder side of the circuit board. The finger member is conjoined with the body member, and is a flexible, twistable, thin member containing electrically conductive vias coupled which couple the mounted components with an electrical connected located at the distal end of the finger member. The electrical connector at the distal end of the finger member can be a solder pad, a further member body, or other electrically coupling connector device. The finger member is designed to impact cooling air flow less than the disturbances created by conventional component coupling methods and apparatus, e.g.

  • Patent number: 4373377
Abstract: A universal tail pipe connector includes a three-way valve disposed on a hollow, cylindrical housing having inlet and outlet ports in spaced registration along the longitudinal axis of the housing, each having an internal diameter at least as large as the largest outside diameter tail pipe to which connection is required, the connector further including an annular, inflatable seal of elastomeric material disposed in an annular collar portion of the housing adjacent the inlet port, the seal being responsive to positive pressure and vacuum pressure signals provided through the three-way valve from external sources of each in dependence on selectable operation by an operator, for retracting inside the annular collar in response to the vacuum pressure signals to permit unobstructed penetration of the tail pipe through the inlet port into the housing, and for inflating in response to the positive pressure signals to provide a surface seal along the contour of the outside diameter of the enclosed tail pipe.

  • Patent number: 4108008
Abstract: Connection is quickly made to a plurality of fluid lines, the pressure or other non-flow characteristic of which is desired to be measured, by means of a vehicle mounted port block container valved access to a plurality of vehicle fluid lines and a matching transducer block having a corresponding plurality of transducer retaining bores correspondingly aligned for close fluid communication with one of the ports, each containing a pusher to open the valve of the related port and each containing a fluid-to-electric parameter transducer for measuring a parameter of fluid in a corresponding port, there being an electrical interconnection means, such as a cable, for carrying conductors to the transducers. A locking means provides for snugging the transducer block tightly against the port block and for locking the blocks together by two independent motions of a locking handle.
