  • Patent number: 8364126
Abstract: A method and system for providing transmission of a selected media program to a wireless handset includes a source provider, such as a wireless network or a wireless handset, for receiving a transmission from at least one media program provider. At least one wireless handset transmits a request selecting one of the media programs. In response thereto, the source provider simultaneously transmits the selected media program to each of the wireless handsets.

  • Patent number: 7340262
Abstract: A method and system for processing communication services for a mobile subscriber associated with a wireless network includes a database for storing location-dependent rules associated with at least one communication service subscribed to by the mobile subscriber. Service logic then determines a current location of the mobile subscriber and generates call processing instructions for processing the communication services based on the location-dependent rules and the current location of the mobile subscriber.

  • Patent number: 7139376
Abstract: A method and system for providing preselected information services to a subscriber includes detection of an off-hook condition at a subscriber telephone line and determining the preselected information services for the subscriber. A message is generated corresponding to the determined information services by correlating the subscriber's directory number to the selected information services in the subscriber's profile.

  • Publication number: 20030092452
Abstract: A method and system for simultaneously sharing wireless communications among multiple wireless handsets deployed in a wireless network having at least one cell site associated therewith includes a first and second wireless handset for transmitting a request for the same wireless communication. The wireless network then assigns a first wireless receive channel to the first wireless handset and the second wireless handset and simultaneously transmits the requested wireless communication to the first and second wireless handsets for receipt by the first wireless receive channel. If the requested wireless communication originates from a source handset, and the first and second handsets are located in direct communication proximity to the source handset, the source handset itself negotiates the common wireless receive channel for receiving the requested wireless communication.

  • Patent number: 6532235
Abstract: An analysis method provides a bandwidth calculation for employing voice communications over fast packet (FP) networks such as frame relay or ATM. Many companies currently have internal phone systems such as private branch exchange (PBX), which provide for the transmission of voice communication within an enterprise, but also a connection to the public switch telephone network (PSTN). In addition, PBX systems may be interconnected via a system of inter-PBX tie trunks, generally used for internal PBX-PBX communication. If a PBX system employs a private data network utilizing FP technology such as frame relay, it is now possible to route this inter-PBX voice traffic over the data network. In situations where the data network is a FP network such as frame relay or ATM, an analysis is performed to determine whether there is sufficient bandwidth to handle the voice traffic.

  • Patent number: 6104800
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method for providing a first party, engaged in a data call, i.e. a data transmission or communication between machines, call waiting notification without interrupting the data call the first party is engaged in. One embodiment of the present invention includes a central office adjunct which detects a third party call to a first party already engaged in a data call, generates a call waiting data portion compatible with the data call, when said third party call is detected, and merges the call waiting data portion with the data call. One aspect of the present invention includes the first party's computer, loaded with appropriate software, detecting the call waiting data portion and using the computer's output devices to notify the first party of the presence of the third party call.

  • Patent number: 5978469
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a control system which interfaces a plurality of telephones, referred to as extensions, to a central office telephone line. The control system includes a ring detector, a ring generator, a controller and a telephone extension bus. In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, the control system is programmable to: (i) control the ringing function of a plurality of extensions when an incoming call is received; (ii) control the staging of the ringing function of a plurality of extensions when an incoming call is received; (iii) control the use of one or more of a plurality of extensions to initiate an outgoing call; (iv) control the use of one or more of a plurality of extensions when another extension is in-use, i.e. presently being used to engage in an ongoing telephone call; (v) control the use of one or more of a plurality of extensions when another extension is being used for a data call, i.e.
