Abstract: Methods and apparatus for a multi-spectral target apparatus, includes a target having at least one thermal emitting portion, a controller module in communication with a remote user, at least one brightness controller including an input electrically connected to the controller module and at least one output electrically connected to at least one thermal emitting portion of the target. The brightness controller is operable to vary a thermal emitting property of the at least one thermal emitting portion, wherein the at least one thermal emitting portion includes a thermal emitter layer further comprising a resistive layer having a front side and a back side, the resistive layer sandwiched between an electrode layer deposited on the front side and the back side of the resistive layer.

Abstract: A thermal image identification system includes an infrared emitting element having a laminate, and a power source electrically communicable with the infrared emitting element. The laminate includes an infrared emitting layer having a first side and a second side, a cover layer associated with the first side, and a backing layer associated with the second side. The laminate may also include a first heat insulating layer between the infrared emitting layer and the cover layer, a second heat insulating layer between the infrared emitting layer and the backing layer, and an infrared reflective layer between the second heat insulating layer and the backing layer. A plurality of infrared emitting elements may be arranged contiguously for coordinated operation. The infrared emitting elements may be arranged in a one-dimensional or a two-dimensional array.

Abstract: An infrared beacon includes a plurality of infrared emitters disposed on a support and a power supply providing power to the infrared emitters. The infrared beacon emits a flashing infrared signature to allow identification or classification of a target in low light conditions. The beacon may be viewed with a thermal infrared viewing device.
