  • Publication number: 20110146585
Abstract: An exercise weight primarily for horses, to increase the horse's energy expenditure level during exercise. A slurry of polymerized plastic material is mixed with powdered metal, e.g. lead, producing a paste which is extruded in thin sheets, dried and cut to size. A selected number of such sheets are parallel stacked within a cover and can slide over each other to an extent limited by stitches or other fasteners holding the layers to the cover. The Young's Modulus of Elasticity (YME) of the resultant exercise weight is extremely low (typically less than about 2.5). The exercise weight can have various forms, such as the shape of a saddle to lie on the horse's body. When the horse gallops and its anatomical shape dynamically changes, the low YME permits the exercise weight on the horse to deform to adapt to the shape changes in the horse without generating large resistive forces or counterforces pushing against the horse.

  • Patent number: 6280324
Abstract: A method of operating a computer system to provide a game of chance for players, based on a horse race in which horses are assigned post positions, in which a ticket is provided having two columns, one for horse post positions and the second containing a number of rows, each containing entry locations for all possible finishing positions. The player marks in each row one finishing position for each horse, a different finishing position for each row, thus producing a player data set, before post positions are assigned to the horses. The player data sets are entered in a central computer. Horse post positions are then drawn and a post position data set is entered in the computer. After the race is run, an outcome data set is entered in the computer and is compared with a combination of the player data set and the post position data set to see whether any player data sets correspond to the outcome data set.

  • Patent number: 4882204
Abstract: The absorbency of a disposable diaper is increased by spraying the diaper with an aerosol spray containing absorbent powder, e.g. talcum, cornstarch or both. The powder particles are so fine (20-40 micron diameter) that the spray force drives many of them into the subsurface layers of the diaper, thus increasing the absorbency of the diaper. At the same time, some powder remains on the diaper surface to help protect the skin of the wearer in the absence of urine.
