    Abstract: A method of making a surgical biothread from natural cellulose fiber is provided. The method includes making nanoscale cellulose using acid hydrolysis and pyrolysis of a mixture of palm tree stems and banana flower bracts; mixing the nanoscale cellulose with a plasticizer to obtain a nanoscale polymer; and casting the nanoscale polymer using a syringe and needle to obtain the biothread.
