  • Patent number: 11780975
Abstract: A method for preparing a composite material that includes the steps of: (i) heat treating natural lignocellulosic fibers at a temperature of 130 to 320° C. for 2 minutes to 24 hours in an atmosphere oxygen-deficient in and in the presence of water vapor, and (ii) mixing the heat treated natural lignocellulosic fibers with at least one thermoplastic polymer in the molten state and whose melting point is less than or equal to 230° C. The method is useful for producing vehicle parts from a composite material having natural lignocellulosic fibers with reduced volatile organic compound odor emissions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 24, 2019
Date of Patent: October 10, 2023
    Assignee: FAURECIA INTERIEUR INDUSTRIE
Inventors: Laurence Dufrancatel, Hassane Boudhani, Jeremie Lebihan, Nicolas Coiffier
  • Patent number: 11485842
Abstract: A composition that includes: (a) from 65 to 85% by weight of polypropylene homopolymer in powder form, the average particle size of which is micrometric, (b) from 14 to 30% by weight, preferably 14 to 25% by weight, of natural fibers less than or equal to 2 mm in length, and (c) from 1 to 3% by weight of compatibilizer, its uses for the preparation of a composite material by extrusion, wherein this composite material is useful for preparing a part by injection, in particular a vehicle part whose rigidity is improved.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 21, 2019
Date of Patent: November 1, 2022
    Assignee: FAURECIA INTERIEUR INDUSTRIE
Inventors: Jean-Michel Monzo, Hassane Boudhani, Laurence Dufrancatel
