    Abstract: A method of manufacturing a graphite bipolar plate for a fuel cell or flow battery. A pair of graphite monopolar plates is provided. The monopolar plates are bonded together along opposing contact faces of the monopolar plates. Bonding is carried out using a 1C epoxy resin. Properties of the 1C epoxy resin and/or process parameters may be specially adapted to the application. Particularly, the 1C epoxy resin is adapted to have an activation temperature of at least 50° C.

    Abstract: A bipolar plate for a fuel cell or a flow battery. The bipolar plate includes a substrate and a channel running from a channel entrance at a surface of the substrate into an interior of the substrate. A surface of the substrate is more strongly hydrophobic in a first area inside the channel adjacent to the channel entrance than in a second area. Among other things, this may prevent moisture from entering the channel and accumulating there.

    Abstract: A process for producing a molded part from a highly filled thermosetting starting material including: introducing the starting material into a prepressing tool; producing a preform from the starting material, the starting material being brought to a prepressing temperature by the prepressing tool and being compressed with a prepressing force to form the preform; removing the preform from the prepressing tool and introducing the preform into a finish pressing tool; and producing a finished part from the preform, the preform being brought to a finish pressing temperature by the finish pressing tool and being compressed with a finish pressing force to form the finished part. Here, the prepressing temperature is lower than the finish pressing temperature and the finish pressing temperature is at least as high as an onset temperature of a curing reaction of the starting material.
