  • Publication number: 20060124553
Abstract: Materials and a process are provided whereby polymers with the pendant group or end group containing —Si(OR?)3 (where R? is H, an alkyl group, Na, K, or NH4) are used to control aluminosilicate scaling in a nuclear waste process. When materials of the present invention are added to the nuclear waste liquor, they reduce and even completely prevent formation of aluminosilicate scale on equipment surfaces such as evaporator walls and heating surfaces. The present materials are effective at treatment concentrations that make them economically practical.

  • Patent number: 6221956
Abstract: Aqueous dispersions of anionic water-soluble or water-swellable polymers are provided, where the polymers have an anionic charge of greater than 16% and where the dispersions maintain their form at a pH of 5.1 or greater. Processes for making these dispersions are also disclosed, as well as methods of using these dispersions to treat water containing various types of suspended materials. Dry polymers, preferably formed by drying these aqueous dispersions, are also disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 21, 1999
Date of Patent: April 24, 2001
    Assignee: Cytec Industries, Inc.

  • Patent number: 5763523
Abstract: Stable compositions as flocculants comprising a blend of at least two inverse emulsions, at least one of which is a polymeric microemulsion, provide effective flocculating performance over time. Methods for preparing stable emulsion blends use stabilizing amounts of aldehyde scavenger.
