Patent number: 10591641Abstract: A remote location monitoring system, for example, a home monitoring or weather monitoring system may include one or more sensors and/or receivers at a remote location such as a residence or business to be monitored. The sensors and receivers may communicate with a central server via a gateway device, and may be controlled by users locally or remotely via the server. Users may register to receive remote notifications of weather events and other home monitoring events. Users may also access remotely sensors and receivers to configure alerts, notifications, and automatic responses for the devices and integrated appliances at the remote location.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2018Date of Patent: March 17, 2020Assignee: La Crosse Technology Ltd.Inventors: Haupt Rolf, Allan McCormick

Publication number: 20190041547Abstract: A remote location monitoring system, for example, a home monitoring or weather monitoring system may include one or more sensors and/or receivers at a first location such as a residence or business to be monitored. The sensors and receivers may communicate with a remote central server via a gateway device and the detection data received from the sensors and receivers may be displayed via display circuitry coupled to a processor of the gateway device. The sensors, receivers, and gateway device may be controlled by users locally or remotely via the server. Users may register to receive remote notifications of weather events and other home monitoring events. Users may also access remotely sensors and receivers to configure alerts, notifications, and automatic responses for the devices and integrated appliances at the first location.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 28, 2018Publication date: February 7, 2019Inventors: Haupt Rolf, Allan McCormick

Patent number: 8787221Abstract: A receiver may receive alerts from a radio-broadcast following a tone or other indication preceding each alert, for example, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) broadcasted weather alerts. Received alerts may be recorded and stored for future playback to an end user, and the receiver may indicate to the user that an alert has been stored, varying the type of indication according to the type of alert stored. The receiver may record alerts specific to one or more zip codes, geographic regions, Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates, Federal Information Processes Standards (FIPS) codes, Specific Area Messaging Encoding (SAME) profiles, or other user location data. The user may then select locations and type of alerts to be replayed. Additionally, the receiver may be used in conjunction with other co-located devices to provide information to an end user through a variety of methods and devices.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 2010Date of Patent: July 22, 2014Assignee: La Crosse Technology, Ltd.Inventors: Haupt Rolf, Allan McCormick

Publication number: 20120011461Abstract: A central monitoring and measurement system is described. A central user interface system for generation of a plurality of user-desired information based upon a plurality of measured data, the central user interface system may include a receiver system configured to receive wirelessly the plurality of measured data from a plurality of external sensor systems. An input/output system may be configured to provide output data to a display screen, receive input data from the display device, and provide output data to a processing system. The processing system may be configured to process the plurality of measured data from the plurality of external sensor systems into the plurality of user-desired information. Each external sensor system may include a transmission system configured to transmit wirelessly measured data to the central user interface system, and a measurement system configured to determine the measured data associated with an external device.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 6, 2011Publication date: January 12, 2012Applicant: LA CROSSE TECHNOLOGY, LTD.Inventors: Haupt Rolf, Allan McCormick

Publication number: 20090316671Abstract: A transmitter transmits time synchronized data via a pager/WiMax/802.x access to a receiver system, wherein the receiver system is programmed to receive data for specific geographic locations. The geographic locations may be specified by the user or by the receiver system, and includes state, zip codes, towns, counties, towns, or cardinal regions. The receiver is able to find its location when outside its cell region and is able to synchronize to the data transmitted in the new cell region. Further, the receiver system is able to remotely monitor weather data and other information at a different location via wireless Internet or voice over IP. A transceiver may also be used to receive weather or alert data. In response to receiving data, the transceiver transmits the data to low powered devices in a house using a different frequency band than the frequency band it received the data.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 15, 2009Publication date: December 24, 2009Applicant: LA CROSSE TECHNOLOGY, LTD.Inventors: Haupt Rolf, Allan McCormick
