  • Patent number: 6847757
Abstract: A reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer includes first and second input terminals, first and second output terminals, an optical device and a switching device. The first input terminal receives a multi-wavelength optical signal including a to-be-dropped optical signal. The second input terminal receives a to-be-added optical signal having a wavelength that is the same as that of the to-be-dropped optical signal. The optical device has a reflective region and a filter region, and includes a first reflector and a filter. The filter is disposed in the filter region to separate the to-be-dropped optical signal from the multi-wavelength optical signal. The switching device switches the multi-wavelength optical signal and the to-be-added optical signal to the reflective region or the filter region.

  • Publication number: 20040105651
Abstract: A variable optical attenuator in micro-electro-mechanical systems includes a moving shutter for attenuating the energy of a light entering the attenuator, a first optical fiber transversely located on one side of the moving shutter with a first inclined surface facing the shutter, and a second optical fiber transversely located on the other side of the moving shutter with a second inclined surface facing the shutter. The second optical fiber and the first optical fiber are parallel to each other with a space and a shift on the same plane.

  • Patent number: 6728041
Abstract: An optical device includes a first input port, a first output port, a second output port, at least one filter, at least one reflector, a first reflection unit and a second reflection unit. The filter receives optical signals having wavelengths of &lgr;1 to &lgr;n from the first input port, selectively transmits the optical signal having a wavelength of &lgr;i, and reflects other optical signals, wherein 1≦i≦n. The first reflection unit reflects the optical signal having the wavelength of &lgr;i back to the filter, so that the optical signal having the wavelength of &lgr;i can pass through the filter and can be output from the first output port. The reflector reflects the optical signals having the wavelengths of &lgr;1 to &lgr;n except for &lgr;i from the filter.
