  • Patent number: 11931508
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for performing diagnostics on patient devices (720). The patient devices (720) may include respiratory therapy devices that operate in accordance with instruction sets, such as software or firmware. A server (710) may maintain a database of diagnostic data (718) indicating faults in one or more of a plurality of patient devices (720). The server (710) may transmit this diagnostic data (718) to one or more computing devices (760), including identification of faults that have occurred. The server (710) may also transmit service data to the plurality of patient devices (720) in order to address the identified faults.

  • Patent number: 11906351
Abstract: A photonic integrated circuit and a method for its manufacture are provided. In an embodiment, an intermetal dielectric layer, for example, a silicon oxide layer, is contiguous between an upper metal layer and a lower metal layer on a substrate. One or more waveguides having top and bottom faces are formed in respective waveguide layers within the intermetal dielectric layer between the upper and lower metal layers. There is a distance of at least 600 nm from the upper metal layer to the top face of the uppermost of the several waveguides. There is a distance of at least 600 nm from the lower metal layer to the bottom face of the lowermost of the several waveguides. The waveguides are formed of silicon nitride for longer wavelengths and alumina for shorter wavelengths. These dimensions and materials are favorable for CMOS processing, among other things.

  • Patent number: 9291508
Abstract: An atomic interferometric device useful, e.g., for measuring acceleration or rotation is provided. The device comprises at least one vapor cell containing a Raman-active chemical species, an optical system, and at least one detector. The optical system is conformed to implement a Raman pulse interferometer in which Raman transitions are stimulated in a warm vapor of the Raman-active chemical species. The detector is conformed to detect changes in the populations of different internal states of atoms that have been irradiated by the optical system.

  • Patent number: 9086429
Abstract: A light-pulse atomic interferometry (LPAI) apparatus is provided. The LPAI apparatus comprises a vessel, two sets of magnetic coils configured to magnetically confine an atomic vapor in two respective magneto-optical traps (MOTs) within the vessel when activated, and an optical system configured to irradiate the atomic vapor within the vessel with laser radiation that, when suitably tuned, can launch atoms previously confined in each of the MOTs toward the other MOT. In embodiments, the magnetic coils are configured to produce a magnetic field that is non-zero at the midpoint between the traps. In embodiments, the time-of-flight of the launched atoms from one MOT to the other is 12 ms or less. In embodiments, the MOTs are situated approximately 36 mm apart. In embodiments, the apparatus is configured to activate the magnetic coils according to a particular temporal magnetic field gradient profile.

  • Patent number: 8928682
Abstract: Image processing may be performed to generate a color image for display on a color display screen and a monochrome image for display on a monochrome display screen, where an overlap of the images may produce a resultant color image at one or more depths. The one or more depths may be determined by an amount of blur applied to one image and an amount of sharpness applied to other. The one or more depths may be determined by a gamma value of the monochrome image. Since the monochrome display screen may have fewer or no color filters and/or a lower resolution, the monochrome display screen may pass more light than conventional color display screens. As such, less light can be used to illuminate color images displayed at different depths using a color display screen and a monochrome display screen, thereby reducing energy consumption of the display device.

  • Patent number: 5014166
Abstract: A motor vehicle headlamp comprising a dished body having an ellipsoidal inner reflective surface. A lamp filament is disposed at an inner focal point of the surface. A diverging meniscus lens element having a smooth convex rear surface is disposed between the reflective surface and a front cover. The lens element has a smooth concave outer surface, although the latter may be a concave fresnel lens. The convex rear surface of the lens element reduces the risk of unwanted light scatter compared with the use of a concave rear surface.
