  • Patent number: 6817296
Abstract: A fuzing system for non-spinning or substantially non-spinning weapons is implemented by means of wide angle optics providing at least forward-hemisphere coverage, an array of infrared detectors and a microprocessor for image and data processing, aim-point selection, directional-warhead aiming and skewed-cone fuzing. The skewed-cone fuzing has a generatrix which is the vector sum of missile velocity, warhead velocity and the negative of target velocity.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 4, 2001
Date of Patent: November 16, 2004
    Assignee: Northrop Grumman Corporation
Inventors: Hayden N. Ringer, Abraham Shrekenhamer

  • Patent number: 5669581
Abstract: A spin-stabilized projectile for destroying distant targets uses the projectile's spin to carry out other functions such as target imaging, course-correction and warhead aiming. By using the spin to carry out such functions, in addition to stabilization, the projectile can be implemented with fewer or no moving parts. The projectile may utilize either right or skewed-core fusing for the warhead.

  • Patent number: 3975729
Abstract: 1. A radar detection system comprising means for generating time spaced pulses of high frequency energy, said pulses having a width equal to a/nf.sub.r, where a and n are integers and f.sub.r is the pulse repetition frequency, means for projecting said energy pulses into space, receiver means for receiving target reflected echoes of said projected pulses, said receiver means including a heterodyne mixer, a bandpass circuit connected to the output of said heterodyne mixer, and means for supplying received echo signals to said mixer, means for supplying pulses corresponding to said generated pulses in pulse repetition frequency, pulse width and frequency to said heterodyne mixer as a local oscillator signal, said bandpass circuit having a passband centered at the frequency nf.sub.r, the width of said passband being not greater than f.sub.r.
