Publication number: 20240012330Abstract: A roll-to-roll computed axial lithography system includes an optical illumination system; an optical modulation system to receive light from the optical illumination system and to output an illumination pattern of light; and a web-handling system to receive and transport a web having a photosensitive material layer such that a portion of the web will be in an optical path of the modulation system. The web-handling system includes a development module to render three-dimensional structures from the layer exposed to the illumination pattern of light. The illumination pattern of light provides predetermined three-dimensional regions within a bulk of the layer that are exposed beyond a photo-responsive threshold for the photosensitive material providing volumetric patterning.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 22, 2022Publication date: January 11, 2024Applicant: The Regents of the University of CaliforniaInventors: Joseph Toombs, Hayden Taylor

Patent number: 11809161Abstract: A system for determining a light intensity field for use in manufacturing a 3D object from a volume of material. The system receives a 3D specification of a 3D geometry for the 3D object that specifies voxels within the volume that contain material that is to be part of the 3D object. The system employs a cost function for effectiveness of a light intensity field in manufacturing the 3D object. The cost function may be an adjoint of an Attenuated Radon Transform that models an energy dose that each voxel would receive during manufacture of the 3D object using the light intensity field. The system applies an optimization technique that employs the cost function to generate a measure of the effectiveness of possible light intensity fields and outputs an indication of a light intensity field that will be effective in manufacturing the 3D object.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2020Date of Patent: November 7, 2023Assignees: Lawrence Livermore National Security, LLC, The Regents of the University of CaliforniaInventors: Maxim Shusteff, Kyle Champley, Erika Jo Fong, Hayden Taylor, Chi Chung Li, Trevor Rongey, Jr., Sui Man Luk, Heting Fu, Samira Feili, Joseph Toombs, Hossein Heidari

Patent number: 11072160Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a system for forming a three dimensional (3D) part. The system may incorporate a beam delivery subsystem for generating optical signals, and a mask subsystem that receives the optical signals and generates optical images therefrom. A first one of the optical images activates a polymerization species of a photo-sensitive resin in accordance with illuminated areas thereof, to thus cause polymerization of select portions of the photo-sensitive resin to help form a layer of the 3D part. A second one of the optical images causes stimulated emission depletion of subportions of the polymerization species, simultaneously, over various areas of the layer, to enhance resolution of at least one subportion of the select portions of the photo-sensitive resin.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2016Date of Patent: July 27, 2021Assignees: Lawrence Livermore National Security, LLC, The Regents Of The University Of CaliforniaInventors: Ryan Hensleigh, Bryan D. Patent number: 10991381Abstract: A system, method and computer program for predictive maintenance on natural gas compressors through auditory detection. Using one or multiple microphones, a system will collect and evaluate sound waves for the purpose of predicting and detecting failures and alert conditions in mechanical and process equipment. The system will collect sound which is used in a machine learning environment to utilize supervised training as well as unsupervised training, to produce a normal baseline and detect abnormal operations. Additionally, abnormal operations are categorized against known conditions. For uncategorized and unknown conditions, a workflow is in place to allow for the retraining and learning” of new conditions which are then published to the entire network of devices.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 2019Date of Patent: April 27, 2021Assignee: WELL CHECKED SYSTEMS INTERNATIONAL LLCInventors: Michael David Haines, Samuel Henry Haines, III, Hayden Taylor Haines

Patent number: 10647061Abstract: A method of forming a three dimensional (3D) object is disclosed. The method may involve providing a volume of photo-curable resin contained within an optically transparent resin container, and simultaneously directing optical projections from an optical subsystem at a plurality of angles ? through the volume of photo-curable resin. The optical beams are directed about a z axis extending through the volume of photo-curable resin. Each of the projections is provided with a calculated 2D spatial intensity function which creates a 3D intensity map. The projections act over a fixed temporal exposure period, during which the net exposure dose is sufficient to cure select portions of the volume of photo-curable resin, and to leave other portions uncured, to form a desired 3D part.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 2017Date of Patent: May 12, 2020Assignees: Lawrence Livermore National Security, LLC, The Regents of the University of CaliforniaInventors: Brett Kelly, Robert Panas, Maxim Shusteff, Christopher Spadaccini, Hayden Taylor, Indrasen Bhattacharya
