  • Patent number: 4823974
Abstract: A container assembly for chilling wine bottles or the like includes a thermally insulated container, having a preferably cylindrical inner diameter for enclosing the main body of the wine bottle with limited space, such as one-half inch, between the bottle and the inner wall of the container, to receive crushed ice. The cylinder container is sealed around the wine bottle, so that wine may be poured without spilling the ice or melted ice water. The top of the thermally insulated container may be sealed by a ring-shaped member of wedge-shaped cross-section. The thermally insulated container may be sealed at the top or bottom, and may be formed either as a single member or may be formed of two slidable parts to accommodate beverage containers of different sizes.
