  • Patent number: 8774100
Abstract: Various embodiments are described relating to resource management techniques for wireless networks. For example, a resource deficiency may be determined for a requesting wireless node in a wireless network. A resource request may be sent from the requesting node to one or more other wireless nodes, and a resource reply including a resource status may be received from one or more of the other wireless nodes in response to the resource request. One of the other nodes from which to obtain a resource may be selected based on the resource status for the selected node, and a resource update message may be sent from the requesting wireless node to the selected wireless node to facilitate a reallocation of resources from the selected node to the requesting node, the resource update message indicating an amount of resources to be reallocated from the selected node to the requesting node.

  • Publication number: 20090149184
Abstract: Example embodiments of methods, computer program products, apparatus, and systems for controlling handover of a terminal device are disclosed. In an example system, a terminal device is configured to select a handover target and initiate handover on its own. In the example system, the terminal device is tied to at least one predetermined cell by performing network-sided control of available handover targets.

  • Publication number: 20080070510
Abstract: Various embodiments are disclosed relating to techniques for managing interference among nodes in a wireless network. According to an example embodiment, a first measurement of a first interference activity may be determined at a first wireless node in a wireless network. A determination may be made that the first interference activity is unacceptable based on the first measurement. A first interference report including an indication of the unacceptable first interference activity may be sent to a second wireless node for transmission to a base station for processing by the base station. According to an example embodiment, an interference report including an indication of an unacceptable first interference activity for a first wireless node in a wireless network may be received. At least one adaptation parameter value may be determined based on the interference report. An adaptation message including the at least one adaptation parameter may be transmitted.

  • Publication number: 20070263654
Abstract: Various embodiments are disclosed relating to pro-active congestion mitigation in wireless networks. In an example embodiment, a wireless node may make a determination that an amount of previous channel usage by the wireless node is greater than a threshold value, and then delay an acquisition of a transmission opportunity based on the determination. For example, the wireless node may delay a start of a backoff time counter based on the determination, and/or may increase a value of the backoff time counter based on the determination.
