  • Patent number: 7320104
Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, implementing and using techniques for controlling typesetting and layout editing (2a). Data being typeset or laid out are displayed on a display (3). A first menu (20) having a user-selectable first creation mode and second creation mode are displayed on the display (3) to create a new electronic document in accordance with a user-input control instruction. A second menu (21) having previously set values for grid parameters demarcating an appropriate layout grid (123) for the new electronic document is displayed if the user selects the first creation mode. A layout grid (123) is created on each page of the electronic document by receiving a user approval of the values set in the second menu (21). This eliminates the necessity of separately having to calculate page margins. Furthermore, when creating a frame grid (30) on a layout grid (123), or when changing its dimensions, the frame and grid are always automatically coordinated.

  • Patent number: 6993709
Abstract: A method and apparatus of a layout editing system for arranging page structural elements in an electronic document. An electronic document having a grid provided with a plurality of first attraction points is displayed on a display device. A page structural element whose outline is demarcated by a frame on the electronic document is also displayed on the display device. The page structural element is provided with a plurality of attractive second attraction points to adjust its position in accordance with the plurality of first attraction points. Upon detecting that the cursor is positioned inside the frame of the page structural element and that the button of a pointing device linked to the cursor is pressed down, the page structural element is held and only the second attraction point nearest to the cursor is selected from among the plurality of second attraction points to be an attractive state.

  • Patent number: 5692688
Abstract: A hammermill having a polygon profile screen which provides for improved hammer impact and crushing efficiency. Particles in the working zone of the hammermill tend to be accelerated in the direction of hammer rotation. This acceleration lessens the speed differential between the hammer and the particle, which lessens the impact force and crushing efficiency. The polygonal screen inhibits this acceleration of particles in the working zone, due to flow interruptions caused by its irregular shape, thus increasing the particle-to-hammer speed differential and crushing efficiency.
