  • Patent number: 11851962
Abstract: A downhole tool of this disclosure includes a set/reset ring located adjacent a gauge ring which is opposite at least one sealing member. The set/reset ring is arranged to move between an unset diameter at least equal to the unset diameter of the sealing member and a set diameter at least equal to the set diameter of the sealing member. The set/reset ring is like a coil spring having at least two full turns and, therefore, a 360° face surface when in its unset and set diameters. When a setting mandrel moves toward the sealing member, the sealing member moves to its set diameter and the set/reset ring moves into its set diameter. When the setting mandrel moves away from the sealing member, the sealing member returns to its unset diameter and the set/reset ring returns to its unset diameter.

  • Publication number: 20200095837
Abstract: An apparatus and method of this disclosure include a downhole tool containing an anti-preset device in communication with a setting chamber configured to actuate at least one tool set feature of the downhole tool such as a cone-and-slip arrangement. The anti-preset device includes a control line with a port to setting chamber and a first rupture disk that prevents a control line fluid from passing through the port to the setting chamber until a first predetermined fluid pressure is achieved in the control line, the first predetermined fluid pressure being a burst pressure of the first rupture disk and achieved when the downhole tool is a desired depth with a wellbore.

  • Patent number: 10450816
Abstract: Embodiments of a tubing anchor catcher includes a setting and a stationary sleeve each containing a set of spaced-apart cone pieces at one end that form a cone block configured to engage a set of slips. The anchor catcher, which may be designed for hydraulic or rotational setting, provides a reduced outside diameter that allows room for gas or debris bypass as well as capillary or electrical lines to be banded along the outside of the tool while providing a full open inside diameter. Because there is area available between the slips, multiple lines may be banded to the tool. In some embodiments, one of the raised slip protectors may include a line carrier sized to receive a capillary or electrical line.
