  • Publication number: 20140202163
Abstract: Additive manufacturing techniques may be utilized to construct effusion plates. Such additive manufacturing techniques may include defining a configuration for an effusion plate having one or more internal cooling channels. The manufacturing techniques may further include depositing a powder into a chamber, applying an energy source to the deposited powder, and consolidating the powder into a cross-sectional shape corresponding to the defined configuration. Such methods may be implemented to construct an effusion plate having one or more channels with a curved cross-sectional geometry.

  • Publication number: 20140017021
Abstract: An apparatus for removing retaining material proximate to a fastener on a surface is disclosed. The apparatus has a cavity dimensioned for receiving at least a portion of the fastener and has a non-abrasive face at its distal end. The apparatus also has a plurality of cutting inserts that are disposed proximate to the non-abrasive face and that each extend at least partially beyond the non-abrasive face while at least a portion of the non-abrasive face remains exposed to the surface. The cutting inserts are configured to rotate around the fastener to remove the retaining material.

  • Publication number: 20130283806
Abstract: A combustor generally includes a liner that at least partially defines a combustion chamber within the combustor. The liner may generally include a hole that extends through the liner and that at least partially defines a mating surface. An insert having an outer surface extends at least partially through the hole. A projection that at least partially defines a mating surface at least partially circumferentially surrounds the insert outer surface. A joint between the projection mating surface and the hole mating surface provides a connection point between the projection mating surface and the liner hole mating surface.
