  • Patent number: 10119145
Abstract: The present disclosure provides engineered microorganisms, engineered biosynthetic pathways, methods of producing lipid compounds using genetically engineered microorganisms, and the products synthesized by those organisms. In particular, the disclosure provides genetically engineered microorganisms for the production of multi-methyl branched fatty acids (MMBFAs) and MMBFA esters (wax esters) derived from these fatty acids. In addition, the disclosure provides methods for producing acylglycerols with one of more of their acyl substituents being an MMBFA, and methods for producing alcohols derived from MMBFAs (fatty alcohols).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 14, 2014
Date of Patent: November 6, 2018
Assignee: CONSEJO NACIONAL DE INVESTIGACIONES CIENTIFICAS Y TECNICAS (CONICET)
Inventors: Hugo Gramajo, Ana Arabolaza, Santiago Comba, Simón Menendez-Bravo, Héctor Álvarez
  • Patent number: 9296629
Abstract: Methods and systems for reducing a redox active contaminant in a waste stream in a waste treatment system involve performing a unit process of the waste treatment system by contacting redox active contaminant in the waste stream with oxyhydrogen-rich gas generated on-site by an oxyhydrogen gas generator that implements water dissociation technology. The oxyhydrogen gas generator involves applying a pulsed electrical signal to a series of closely spaced electrodes that are submerged in the waste stream to produce oxyhydrogen-rich gas from a water component of the waste stream. Operation of the oxyhydrogen gas generator in the waste stream may accomplish one or more unit processes for waste treatment, such as oxidation, stripping, floatation, disinfection, conditioning, stabilization, thickening, and dewatering, among others.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 21, 2012
Date of Patent: March 29, 2016
    Assignee: Xogen Technologies Inc.
Inventors: David Ritchie Van Vliet, Herbert Wallace Campbell, Stephen Barrie Chambers, Hector Alvarez-Vazquez
