  • Patent number: 9109362
Abstract: A light weight panel is made from strips of thin wood which are joined side by side in a roughly 45° angle. Sheets of such joined strips are combined in layers with the strips of each layer orthogonal to the strips of the adjacent layer and are bonded into a panel if any desired length and width. A usable structural panel is then cut from the boded sheets so that the strips are diagonal to the edges of the structural panel.

  • Publication number: 20100183838
Abstract: A light weight panel and method of manufacture. In a preferred embodiment the panel is manufactured by creating a frame of layered composite materials and placing a composite material face sheet on the frame. Then the frame and face sheet is cured in a press using radio frequency curing. In another preferred embodiment the composite materials are composed of renewable materials such as wheat board, bamboo, sunflower board, sorghum board, straw or rice hulls.

  • Patent number: 6319585
Abstract: A chair stock such as a seat 12 includes a construction in which uppermost and lowermost wood veneer sheets 30, 32 present opposing support and mounting surfaces 20, 22, and are spaced from one another by an intermediate element 34 such as a pile of relatively small wood veneer sheets 36. The intermediate element 34 presents a bearing surface that corresponds in size to a planer central region 28 of the mounting surface 22, and the support surface 20 includes a curved central region directly opposite the planer central region. The stock is constructed by forming a pile of the sheets 30, 32 and the intermediate element 34, and pressing the pile between a pair of spaced apart pressing surfaces. One of the pressing surfaces includes a substantially planer central region aligned with and corresponding in size to the bearing surface of the intermediate element, and the other pressing surface includes a curved central region immediately opposite the planer central region.

  • Patent number: 4535019
Abstract: A laminated wood coupling arrangement for fabricating unitary laminated wood joints. Two sets of multiple layers of thin wood strips placed at a 90.degree. angle to each other overlap ends in alternating layers. Glue placed between all adjacent surfaces retains the laminate together. The bottom layer has two strips. One strip butts against the end of the side of the other strip. The second layer above also has two strips with one crossing over the butt joint of the first layer. The other strip in the second layer butts against the end of the side of the cross over strip. Additional layers may be added in this alternating arrangement to achieve any desired strength or aesthetic appearance.
