Abstract: A head-up display device for a vehicle includes a housing including a guide plate forming first and second surfaces thereof, the housing mounted on a dashboard of a vehicle, a display disposed in the housing for generating an image, a mirror disposed opposite from the display for reflecting the image provided by the display, a combiner device including a combiner for providing the image reflected from the mirror to a driver, and for moving vertically in opposed first and second directions relative to the housing, a shutter device including a shutter disposed on an upper portion of the housing for opening and closing the combiner in a sliding manner, and an operation device disposed in the housing for engaging a sliding movement of the shutter with a movement of the combiner device.

The head-up display apparatus includes a windshield glass that has a transmittance adjustment region and a head-up display that displays an output image through a particular area of the windshield glass. The head-up display includes a display unit with which an imaging device configured to photograph a driver image is integrated and a signal output unit which is electrically connected to the transmittance adjustment region of the windshield glass and outputs a transmittance adjustment signal to the windshield glass in response to an operation of photograph an image by the imaging device.

Abstract: A head-up display apparatus and method for a vehicle are provided. The apparatus includes a display panel that displays operation information regarding a vehicle in a form of an image and a mirror that projects the image onto a windshield glass of the vehicle. An operation switch adjusts a height of the image projected onto the windshield glass based on a plurality of height adjustment steps. A rotation motor rotates the mirror at a predetermined angle based on a selected height adjustment step from the plurality of height adjustment steps. In addition, a controller operates the display panel according to correction information, based on which distortion of the image is corrected, in response to the selected height adjustment step.
