  • Publication number: 20070056574
Abstract: A cutting segment for a cutting tool used for cutting or drilling brittle workpieces, such as stone, brick, concrete and asphalt, a method for manufacturing the segment, and a cutting tool comprising the segment are disclosed. The segment comprises layers of diamond particles and two kinds of plate-shaped metal matrix layers comprising soft and hard metal matrix layers having different ductility. The plate-shaped metal matrix layers are arranged perpendicular to a cutting surface while being parallel to a cutting direction, and are alternately stacked perpendicular to the cutting direction. The layers of diamond particles are suitably arranged in the plate-shaped soft and hard metal matrix layers. The segment and the cutting tool comprising the same have excellent cutting ability, and the manufacturing process thereof can be simplified, thereby remarkably enhancing productivity.

  • Patent number: 7097967
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of predicting a food-drug interaction in vivo, in the case of an orally administered drug interactive with digestive enzymes in the gastrointestinal tract, by measuring the activity of the drug to the digestive enzymes in vitro, which is based on the fact that the ingestion of foods causes the absorption of drug in vivo to decrease due to the above interaction between a drug and digestive enzymes. The present invention further provides methods of minimizing the change of absorption in vivo caused by the ingestion of foods by reducing the action of digestive enzymes, for example, introduction of prodrugs, modification of the chemical structure of drug, design of drug formulation, etc.

  • Patent number: 7045826
Abstract: A strontium silicate-based phosphor, a fabrication method thereof, and an LED using the strontium silicate-based phosphor are provided. The phosphor is applied to a long wavelength ultraviolet LED, an active luminous LCD, etc., to enable an improvement in the color purity and to enhance the luminous efficiency. The strontium silicate-based phosphor is expressed by a chemical formula: Sr3-xSiO5Eu2+x wherein x is 0<x?1. The LED using the phosphor has a wide wavelength spectrum, shows a superior color purity characteristic, and can have a very high luminous efficiency as applied in the backlight source of an LED panel or an active luminous LCD.

  • Publication number: 20050103534
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cutting tip for a diamond tool and a diamond tool having the same which serve to cut or perforate various brittle materials such as stone, brick, concrete and asphalt. In particular, the cutting tip for a diamond tool and the diamond tool have diamond particles which are suitably arrayed to improve the cutting rate. The present invention provides a cutting tip for a diamond tool having diamond particles which are distributed in the cutting tip, wherein the diamond particles are inclined in respect to a cutting direction in a plane parallel to a cutting surface, and arrayed whereby grooved channels are formed successively overlapped on a brittle substance in cutting operation.

  • Patent number: 6716369
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for preparing a spherical green-emitting phosphor based on zinc orthosilicate and more particularly, to the process for a zinc orthosilicate-based green-emitting phosphor demonstrating an emission spectrum at visible regions, when excited by electron beam, via a new application of ‘the homogeneous precipitation method’ comprising the following steps such as i) a solution of tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) diluted in ethanol is hydrolyzed to obtain a hydrated silica, ii) said hydrated silica is dispersed together with the solution containing zinc and manganese components, iii) a precipitant selected from oxalic acid and oxalates is added to said dispersed solution together with a basic solution, while precipitating zinc and manganese components, iv) said admixture precipitate, so filtered off and dried, is calcined in the air and reheated under the reducing atmosphere to generate a phosphor powder; hence, the above-described phosphor particle is quite effective in
