  • Patent number: 6675300
Abstract: A computer system having a remote controller storing an identification number includes a remote controller generating a remote control signal for performing remote control of the computer system and a remote control signal receiver receiving a remote control signal from the remote controller. An identification number is stored in the remote control signal receiver and the remote controller, respectively. When the two identification numbers are identical to each other, remote control of the computer system in response to the remote control signal from the remote controller is then performed. According to a power state of the computer system, the remote control signal causes remote control corresponding to an appointed key of the remote controller to be performed. The identification number of the computer system is provided for a security function of the computer system, and a user can set it to be identical to that of the remote controller.

  • Patent number: 6243819
Abstract: A portable computer supported by a power management system that responds to a closed state and an open state of a flat panel display. A closed position and an open position of a lid (housing the display) of the portable computer is detected by a switch mounted adjacent to a display latch device. When the display is moved to the closed position, a switch-on signal is supplied to the power management system which allows the computer system components to enter a suspend mode, consuming less power than while in a full-power on mode. This will turn off the power after saving the current memory and system information to disk. The display latch device includes a knob having a latch hook and a groove formed in a top portion of a main body selectively locking and releasing the latch hook. This invention provides a simple location of the switch and the arrangement may eliminate special function keys manually operated for turning off the computer or invoking a power management signal.

  • Patent number: 6108196
Abstract: A locking mechanism for a notebook computer has an ejecting unit which elastically pushes a latch up to a certain height. The ejecting unit includes an elastic member installed at a main base panel of the notebook computer and an ejector for pushing the latch up due to the elastic member when a display panel is to be opened. Thus, the notebook computer can be easily opened and closed and also the external appearance of the notebook computer looks more aesthetically pleasing.

  • Patent number: 5751545
Abstract: A chassis of a desktop personal computer where the cover can easily be assembled onto or removed from the base by a user without the use of screws or tools. This allows the user to gain easy access to the electrical components inside the chassis. The design of the base and the cover incorporates a set of guide pins to be inserted into a corresponding set of guide holes in order to properly position the cover onto the base. Then, the cover is fastened to the base by rotating a buckle pivotally attached to the cover to the base so that it engages the base. Finally, a slidable detent located on the cover can be slid onto the buckle, preventing the buckle from inadvertently becoming unfastened. To disassemble the cover from the base, the process is simply reversed. First, the detent is slid of the buckle, allowing the buckle to rotate. Next, the buckle is disengaged from the base by pivoting it open.
