  • Publication number: 20090015933
Abstract: A projection lens system that has a compact configuration and is capable of correcting a color aberration. In the system, first and second lenses have a weak refractive power, respectively, and a third lens has a strong positive refractive power. A fourth lens corrects an aberration generated by the third lens, and a fifth lens has a negative refractive power. A diffractive optical element is formed on at least one among the surface of the first to fifth lenses. A color aberration and spherical aberration is corrected with the diffractive optical element, so that a high resolution can be realized without increasing the number of lenses and the manufacturing cost can be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20080225419
Abstract: A varifocal mirror and a camera module comprising the same are disclosed. The varifocal mirror comprises a substrate, a thin film having a circumference supported by the substrate and a variable radius of curvature, and a reflective plane attached to the thin film to reflect light. The reflective plane has a radius of curvature varying in response to variation in the radius of curvature of the thin film. The camera module embodies focus and optical zoom functions via actuation of the varifocal mirror instead of using an electromagnetic actuator, a step motor and the like when adjusting positions of lens units, significantly reducing a volume of the overall system. With this structure, the camera module can be applied to various portable digital assistances requiring a minimized camera module, such as PDAs, mobile phones and the like.

  • Patent number: 7425074
Abstract: A concept of improving a resolution by using human's visual characteristics is provided. A display device includes an image forming unit forming an image by using an emitted light and an inputted image signal, a projection unit projecting the image formed by the image forming unit onto a screen, and a movable displacement plate displacing the image displayed on the screen. As a result, a viewer can view the image at an improved resolution.

  • Publication number: 20020080842
Abstract: Disclosed is an evanescent-wave-coupled microcavity laser in which a gain medium is positioned outside a circularly symmetric microcavity having a size of a few tens of microns to a few hundreds of microns to generate a laser oscillation using a gain medium existing in the evanescent-field of a resonance mode. Particularly, a gain medium containing a semiconductor, atoms, molecules, or quantum dots is placed outside the microcavity where the evanescent-wave of the microcavity mode exists, to be excited by an electric or an optical pumping. Fluorescence irradiated from the excited gain medium is coupled with the evanescent-wave of the resonator mode to obtain a gain, so that amplification of light is triggered. The amplified light circulates inside the microcavity through total internal reflection to induce a stimulated emission of radiation from the excited gain medium in the field of evanescent-wave so that a stable laser oscillation is established.

  • Patent number: 6137525
Abstract: A personal data communication apparatus that provides a camera, a magnified image in a display and a video telecommunication system within a compact handset housing is disclosed. The personal data communication apparatus can include a memory that stores image information from the camera converted into an electrical signal as data. A transmission controlling part accesses the data stored in the memory and transmits to a radio public telecommunication network in response to a user signal requesting a video communication and displays the image information received as an image signal from the public telecommunication network. The personal data communications apparatus can further include a receiver receiving a voice, a viewfinder type display adapted to magnify the image information, a speaker for transmitting a voice and a system driving part for entering system operation control signals by the user. The camera is a compact design using a diffractive optic system to be mounted within a housing.
